Yeah having seen it as it is now that is one of my thoughts too. I was originally planning to make the holes bigger than they are, which would've cut out the remainder of the B and S. I'm consiering making a perspex ring to surround the speakers anyway, painting the rear of it silver or black, and that'll cover the bolts.
I haven't even tested them yet, I probably should heh As for the colour of plexi, I got a little orange but its too thin, and not quite enough. I got plenty of clear tho, and its fairly chunky stuff. Think I will paint it black on the back of the acrylic. Might cut a few smaller pieces off and try it under one corner at a time and see if I like the effect
Just tested both, all working They sound better than the ones I was using before, and are a bit more balanced volume wise too As those of you who have looked in the comment thread, I have decided to make an acrylic surround for the speaker hole. I am either considering bevelling the edge or rounding the corners. I'll then either frost it, or maybe just paint the back. Once joined up with some better looking countersunk bolts, this should be great
Still dont get why you didnt attatch the wall mounts to the side that says biscuits and cut the hole in the otherside... no bits of letters would be showing then...
The original intention was that the hole would be ~116mm but I couldn't find my holesaw. I ended up making it 102mm which meant part of the B and S on both were left showing. Annoying granted, but it wouldn't have driven me to make acrylic surrounds for it, which should be fun, and look nice as well
Wow, you definitely don't mess around . Look rather win though, only thing I'd say is figure out some way (either sanding it down or making a shroud) to cover up the remainder of the "Biscuits" on both, though it sounds like that's what you're doing with the acrylic. Nice work though. Driven me to finally getting around to making new cabinets for my speakers.
Okay, here's the victim. It used to be part of an acrylic monitor stand, is 6mm thick, and has enough surface area to make two 120mm square surrounds The hole saw could shred the acrylic, quickly, so I will as before drill a test hole in a spare bit of acrylic first as I don't have enough if I screw these up! Cover it in masking tape to avoid scratching as much as possible. Then with a ruler and a fine point gel ink pen, mark up the holes to cut Wish me luck!
They sound pretty good They won't be mounted until after I've got the shrouds finished, but I will probably do them tomorrow
That and a gentle nudge Anyway, thanks to you I've now got to explain to my missus why the bread bin isn't where it should be Your worklog pics also reminded me I need to buy some compost Any updates?
Dammit I was going to do the bread bin idea. Guess there'll be two bread bin worklogs started in the next week or so!!
I'm planning on using it for my router bits, holesaws, and perspex drill bits and jigsaw blades I'm thinking of making perspex shelves and slots to hold everything neat and tidy for easy access. What will you use yours for?
