Just a quick question, my brand new 7800gs arrived today an when plugged the pc wont make beep when booting or display anything. Is it likely to the PSU (black nexus 350W with 12cm orange fan) or could it be something else ?? I also noticed that when i turned off via the switch on the back off the psu it made a beep noise(never heard that before)

    MB ABIT NF7-s socket A
    PRO AMD Barton 2500
    MEM Corsair Value 1GB
    CASE LIAN LI PC 75

Every search i have done so far recommends a minimum of 350w which is exactly what i have

Should i order a PSU and just see whether it resolves the problem ??

Don't really know how "real" the power rating is with Nexus PSUs. I'd say try unplugging some unecessary components (extra hdds etc) and see if that helps. Also make sure the card has it's own molex off the PSU and isn't being spilt before it gets there.

If that doesn't work try another PSU.

it did manage to beep when booting but still didnt detect any display, and the afterwards no beeps at all. when everything bar gfx card was plugged in

I think i may invest in a 420w Tagan Blu PSU

If you can, I suggest you try to underclock your cpu as well, just to be sure.

i've ordered a Tagan 420w psu and i will post the results tommorow

hopefully this psu will be slightly futureproof with a PCI graphic connector and a BTX connector

Just a shame its worked out to be an expensive upgrade with gfx card 195 and psu at 60 total :grr:
