Well last night i figured "why not try and do the vga hack again" on what i thought was a busted screen, it took me about 3 mins to do it this time as opposed to 3 days last time lol. and to my suprise it showed an image, it was a flickery peice of **** as i havnt done the csync+hsync thing and im running nvidia but it was an image all the same. So i went out to get one of those crazy 3rca to 1 3.5mm 4pin jack cables and the whole thing now looks very very very sexy running from my svideo. The 6800gt software is excellent, it allows you to force it to send to tv and change the resolution and frequency on your "TV" and normal monitor seperatly, i dunno if ATi etc do that but it just seemed cool. Il be posting some pics on my project log soon if u wanna see how beautiful it is...

lol thanks for your help ruger i was very very close to getting a new one

Post some pictures. It wouldn't hurt to see if there is any differences between ATI and Nvidia cards. Glad to see it still works for you, Soncetina. It wasn't looking good for you LCD.

Select Display 2, unckeck extent, select Display 1, Properties, Displays, click clone button. If you're using ATI Control Center, have fun figuring it out.

IIRC the general consensus is that the matrox mystique is your best bet. It has been discussed in the thread if you're willing to plough through it all :)

    Hi

Got my old ps one screen here, I remember getting it working using the vga mod, but I cut the power plug off!

Now I cant remember which wire is which.

Can anyone point me in the direction of a image that shows me which wire is for powering the display!

    Thanks

Hi folks, this is my first post on this forum but I just wanted to thank everyone who took the time to post their results on this mod as it helped me to do my own.
I have managed to take the mod one stage further and have added a serial eeprom to the LCD so that it can spoof the EDID process and be automagically recognised by windows without needing to use a dummy monitor. This should also enable it to work on dual-head cards directly - I currently have mine hooked up to a IBM Thinkpad and it boots striaght up to an extended desktop.
The extra parts required are a 24LC21 EEPROM, a 47kohm resistor and a 10kohm resistor. If anyone is interested, post a reply and that will motivate me to write it all down and draw a proper diagram!

    Cheers all,

    John

    Simply :jawdrop: :jawdrop: :jawdrop: :jawdrop:

Thanks for this invaluable technique. I have yet to try it (need to find the part first), but were there any specific values that you changed in the EDID? Which settings did you enter?

--not involving Johnie Gadget's solution, however. Just a description of the mod as outlined in the Bit-tech article.

Really good job on this one! Lets see if i am able to pull this one of too!
    thanks again!!!

P.S. Just one thing. In your post you say that you need the eeprom, 47k ohm and a 10k ohm resistor, but in your guide it says 2x 47k ohm. So i think you have a typo there :D
