hey all just wondering, is it possible to make some sort of IR receiver for my pc, which i can then use in conjunction with one of those 'one 4 all' remotes to control basic stuff on my pc? mainly multimedia commands? any guides at all? thanx.
I've been following the bit-tech forums for a few months now, but when I saw this question I just had to register I have a homemade IR receiver myself and it works perfect. all you need is a free COM-port, and some electronical parts. there's also a USB version, but that one is more complicater and requirest more components. the reciever uses the software Girder, wich is downloadable for free on www.proximis.com(trial, but fully usable) the software is very easy in use and has a lot of pre-programmed plugins like WMP9 and 10, PowerDVD, and lots of other functions. tomorrow i will try to find the scheme and the required info to make one. i've allready found this but i don't think it will help you that much, since it's all dutch
hello there blackscorpion! welcome to the forums i look forward to the schematic! lol. how difficult is it to make? ideally id like something which can be made on a stripboard, as i dont have access to pcb development stuffs! thank you!
http://lnx.manoweb.com/lirc/?partType=section&partName=introduction thats quite a good guide i found, but having one problem finding a suitable IR receiver... it says a TSOP 1738, the only one i can find on maplins which may be suitable is the one with product code: CH11M could someone perhaps check this out for me and see if its suitable! thank you!
just the version i'm using, consists of a resistor, capacitor, diode, ir-sensor and a com-plug, works perfect some pics(clickable):
i didn't make it myself actually, but the top of the sensor says: TK69 841 TFM 5360 it seems to have 6 pins, but 3 of them are removed PS: how can I set my avatar?
o/t: the only way you can get an avatar is after you've made i believe its 75 posts, or it might be 150, someones gna need to clarify that! but im sure it was 75! i cant for the life of me find a suitable IR receiver!! ARGH! im very close to making the thing, the only thing stopping me is finding a suitable ir receiver! can anyone in the uk help! thank you!
