Post a photo of how bad the scratch is....

...even if we can't suggest a viable solution, it would provide some slight entertainment. :hehe:

Seriously, I read somewhere that the solutions used to fill scratches on CD's can be used on TFT screens, but I would not like to risk doing it on mine, the chemicals could react with the anti glare surface and make it ten times worse....

If you want to give it a go, check on the corner of the screen that it isn't going to completely destroy the screen.

If it is so bad, you could look out on ebay for a replacement screen for your laptop, just make sure it is for EXACTLY the same model. Some Dell Laptops appear to be identical until you get round to replacing the screen, once the cover is off, the layout is completely different.

maybe i'm over reacting as my baby now has a battle scar. however i'd still llike to fix it.

i'll try and find my camera

Go to your local cellphone store and ask if they have scratch repair kits.
That should work fine on a TFT screen.

Most of the phones out nowadays do in fact use TFT screens, I'd feel fairly confident that they would not damage the screen. I would be hesitant about saying they would work well, depending on the nature of the scratch.

That is a cleaner, and doesn't appear to be anything of the sort of scratch repair.

    Not sure what happened there?

    http://www.mobilephoneboxes.com/repair_lcd_displex.htm

Is what I intended to post... (I was thinking of editing the above post but thought that would make Cirkustanz look very silly!!) :D

... but I would be very wary... :dremel:

Follow these instructions and you may end up with a lot worse than a simple scratch. :jawdrop:

Sounds like you could completely destroy the surface of the screen. :duh:

What model of laptop is it? It might actually not be that expensive or difficult to replace the screen itself.

its a dell insprion 1300 , but its only 3 months old and i really dont think i need to be replacing the screen just yet.

this scratch deal is looking to be permanent , oh well , **** happens.

edit: that screen thing says it can be used for dektop tft's , however they have a hard plastic covering dont they?

I'd be willing to bet that second product you linked is just some version of unsweetened toothpaste.
