    $449 seems about right for the US. Though that comes out to about £245 in the UK which I highly doubt since we're always the ones who get shafted. If it does fall around that price region... probably will be around £299 in the UK much like the PS2.

    Ah well... gotta buy it anyways lol.

    In about, 6-12 months? Once the processes are reduced. The PS2 is on something like it's 8th revision yet costs now a fraction of what it did.

    This was a very clever tactic by sony. First the make it appear it will be really expensive and a really big luxary item by slapping a possible high price on it and then they knock it down a huge amount to make everyone feel like they can afford it. I cant help but think this was their initial plan, to attract more attention on it and potential customers.

    I think it will start out at least $499. The price can (and will) be lowered later. Most modern companies know they can't start low then RAISE the price, so they start at the high end of the pricing spectrum and work their way down.

    And you listen to every word Sony say religiously? :D

    The Xbox of similar specs costs half that to make, I reckon they have overinflated the prices to make it seem better than it actually is, remember the PS2 hype around the emotion engine :worried: :eeek:

    You can't compare the price of two things by comparing their specs. The architectures are completely different. The multicore cell processor takes up the majority of the cost. Also, Sony never released how much the PS3 is going to cost to produce. That is an estimate made by Merryl Lynch (iirc).

    500 or more. The PS3 will cost around 750 to 800 to manufacture. If they lose more than 200 per unit, and sell the 10 million they want to.... well thats more than a trillion in debt.

    Damn you and your US-ness being ahead!
    I said 449, but I was being optimistic, so I was close.
    599EU = £550

    Five HUNDRED and fifty quid? + games + extra controllers + sony's online service + HDTV.

    How the hell do you get the EU sign up on key #4??
    How the hell do I invest in Sony seeing as there's plenty of fanboi's ready to shell out a pretty penny?

    £550? They where reporting on the radio this morning that it'd be around £350 at current exhange rates.

    Where does the €599 come from?

    The Inq.

    It'll be NO WAY £350. You're looking at at least 450 imo. You know how in this country everyone takes a cut, then the govt. etc. If it's 599 in the EU, it's never going to be a direct exchange into £££ and stores will jack up the prices because everyone will want one.
