Motors How hard to make Welderator?

have you ever seen an Arc welder that runs off of a cars alternator? I was wanting to do that to my truck with a homemade alternator/battery/arc cable setup. I was looking at jegs.com and they've got some nice alternators with external regulators (the regs need to be bypassed) for about $110

is there any online guides to doing this? or am i going to have to just freeball it?

 

i'd imagine its a good way to fry your alternator very quickly.

 

well then how do they do it?

 

I talked to a guy that they did this with trail jeeps for when a tie rod went out or something so they could weld it, but not sure how they did it. I think you can buy them though.

 

where would i get a kit like this?
