Does anyone else notice the fact that it takes mountains of cocaine to justify calling an x1300 a 'Gaming' card?

Its a gaming rig, if your "game" is Half Life 1 and Soldier of Fortune, but for a budget, its a good rig, and a pretty sleek modding job as well as having a water cooler, which im suprised at... but by removing that you can replace it by fans and improve the RAM or GPU up a notch or two...

You do realize that the $400 "Budget" model isn't watercooled, right?

Aye, so was i at first. The other problem here is that that 4GHz/WC 805 was a lucky chip... i mean i'd probably get a 7800GT and a 930 or somesuch with the money, and clock that combo.

Both levels have watercooling the us version uses thermaltake bigwater were as the UK version uses Innovatek Set Basic. I also noticed that some of the prices are high and for the motherboard of the high end config can be swap out for a better altertive for less as the are using a $230 board you can get a nice one for 120-150.

I'll be back in about an hour or two; then, I'll get more rig for less money :naughty:

Afterall, at $1000 about three months ago, I priced a rig at sub $1000 that had a 7900 :D

Can't say I'm impressed with their cooling solutions. Calling the Koolance Exos AL an extreme cooling system is

most important thing in a gaming rig is the graphics card... THG are just riding the "were leet overclockers thing" for all its worth. I mean a 2400+ with a 6800gt would kick that things ass into next week. Also, water cooling in a £400 rig? wtf?

Isn't the EXOS-AL discontinued. I know it's basically impossible to get in the states... Correct me if I'm wrong, though.

eh, drop the watercooling and get a zalman CPU cooler and a 7900 GT. You may only be able to clock up to 3.6-3.8ghz but for the price you wont find anything that matches it.

Its what I'm doing. Just waiting for asus p5b Deluxe to hit retail outlets (p965 chipset) and i'll throw my 805D in that baby along with my 2gb DDR800 4/4/4/12, 2x320gb 7200 RPM HD's and my 7900 GT (500/750) and ride that baby for 6 months until the holiday rush and K8L (whichever looks more promising) forces some price drops and I'll buy a shiny conroe to replace my hardworking 805D :-D

Still, that 805 opens up lots of possibilities in price/performance configs.. especially considering in a month speculation has it that the chip will drop sub $100.

OMG OMG A x1300 IS SO 1337 AND OVERCLOCKING YOUR CPU TO HELL IS ALSO SO 1337 AND LOOK ITS WATER COOLED!!!!!. BAH!!!! the ideia is great but they suck at geting to a gaming rig level. you can run a good colection of games on this but not as anyone of us would like.

i am saving to get a proper gaming rig. with a great graphics card and a great cpu, maybe a conroe with a DX10 ati or nvidia card, what is best at the time.

    Hmmm....
Like it where they dismiss DDR1 boards because of the increased current pull, while speccing even the 'top flight' config with a no-name 520w PSU, that comes with a £30 case!!!!!

    Idiots.

Damn! I already bought my 805 last week. Well can't complain since it was still less than anything else and makes 3D Studio fly.

An X1300 in a "gaming" rig? What on earth were they smoking? :hehe:

That'd be a monster video encoding rig, but gaming? Nuh-uh... :eyebrow:

Besides, as others have already said: air cool the chip, clock it lower and spend the money saved from not watercooling on improving the GPU...
