RAM PROBLEM

    Hi guys

    I just brought 1GB PC3200 400MHZ 184 PIN RAM today, fitted it, my motherboard had 2 slots and 1 is already being used, when i finish fitting the 1gb ram in i turned on the computer, no screen just black, and the pc was on, and ram was in successfully and connections were o.k.

    I don't know what to do, do any of you know what type problem this is?

    any bleeps from the machine on boot up? check all bits inside the box to make sure you didnt knock anything loose etc

    What are the specifications of the rest of your system? If we know what motherboard/RAM you're already running, we can give you much better advice.

    If you remove the RAM you just installed, does it still work?

    If you remove the original RAM and run only the new memory in the first slot, does this work?

    There Were no beeps

    I don't have the machine specs right now, i will get the later on, as its my uncles machine.

    I removed the old RAM and left the NEw ram in and it doesn't work i tryed it on both slots, if i take the new out and leave the old one in then computer works fine.

    I will get the specs later on cheers

    Motherboard - Elitegroup 755-A2
    AMD Sempron 2600+
    Nvidia 6600 AGP 256MB DDR
    256MB DDR
    Windows Xp Home Edition SP2
    LATEST BIOS UPDATES ARE INSTALLED
