Well I've finally got a decent board again, but I jus had to pick DFI, didn't I . so far I've not been able to get 1t to work, well sort of. It works/passes the built in memtest @ DDR400 - 1t (slack 2.5-4-4-8 and tight 2-2-2-5 (havent tried 1.5 yet )) but I can't boot on 1t or anything above 240-250 - 2t. I'm on the 704-2BTA Bios (thx andi for the links ^^) but still no luck, the cpu is capable of ~2.8ghz and the ram capable of DDR600 - 2.5-4-4-7. I've tried every vDimm between 2.5v and 2.9v, as well as even slacker timings (2.5-5-5-8). The ushuall things are fine, HHT multi on on x3, Spread is off, C 'n' Q is off and the ram is in the right slots (orange - I've been told) So is there something stupidly obvious that I'm missing or what ? I'll get some A64 tweaker shots .etc if required This feels weird coming from me, feels noobish
Get some tweaker shots for us, that might help. Sounds a bit strange though, maybe have a try at 1.5CL?
Whack the sticks in yellow and see what happens. Also have you tried switching the sticks round at all?
Tweaker was being retarded (readign Cas's of 4.5 and crap) so Systool will have to do. Currently in 2-3-3-6: Tries.. brb UPDATE: In yellow: 1t - goes to XP load bar, loads forever/ hangs 2t - Boots Xp fine, seems to stable Going to try switching the sticks around now...
Load CPU-z, load A64 tweaker afaik that fixes it Try these and see what happens mate. Should be good for 300
On orange with the sticks switched: 1t - doesn't even update DMI data, no boot 2t - boots In it's box and no you can't have it Will try now, though I dont think these sticks like cas 3
I'm on my second DFI board now, and I've always been able to just build it, switch on, and go. I've had some overclocking problems, but that has always turned out to be memory related. I've never had a problem with the board. Can you try some different RAM?
I've got some Geil Value, but that doesn't even do 1t, though Andi's tweaker shot seems to be working, 50 so so far but I've just realised I'm on the HTT X5 (cleared Cmos earlier) so I'm going to change that and see how it goes...
BTW: this morning I managed to get into wondows from boot @ 2.7ghz/ 250mhz ram, I'm at school ATM so no tweaking till 3:30
Have you tried increasing Max Async Latency to 7ns and Read Preamble to 5.5ns? A 6ns Max Async Latency is very tight for TCCD - you may need to set it to 8ns to reach DDR600 with TCCD.
what bios did you have on it before? my experience with my old ultraD was alot better with the 0623 bios, i tried the bios youve got and it was very fussy with my old ballistix ram but the previous one was fine. have you been over to DFI street yet? theres peoples bios settings/component lists over there to try and copy on yours mate
1t prob is sorted, just flashed to the 702- TCCD ver fully working and stable @ an impressive 1.5-2-2-5 - 1t Now to see if I can get these chrome sticks into gear, DDR600 here I come (hopefully ^^)
Good idea Fr4nk, now get that TCCD flying. Never seen how good Geil One is, is it noticably faster at 1.5,2,2,5 than 2,2,2,5?
Oh dear... Maybe RMA it, sounds like you've got all sorts of timings gone on there with no luck. I assume you tried everything at auto but forced 1T?
Indeed, I've tried all kinds of timings: 1.5-2-2-5/2-2-2-5/auto/2-3-3-6/2.5-4-4-7/2.5-4-4-8/3-4-4-8 nothing does 1t. Also RMA is isn't really going to work, sice Geil discontinued the ONE series sometime last year Though it's still worth ago I guess...
Also I haven't had it running on DDR600 yet, with the rated 2.5-4-4-7 or 3-4-4-8 (or andi's settings) I've set the read premables up as Tim has said too, maybe an RMA is in order or even getting someone on here to test out the ram, it could just be the mobo for all I know, I never got to run the ram in 1t on the A8R MVP as it hates 1t and anything above 250mhz...
