:wallbash: A friend of mine purchased from Spain a "Sanyo HDD Audio Player HDP-M3000" and I have tried it on my desk top PC which has windows XP Home edition, and I have tried it on my lap top which has Windows ME, and the player is not recognized on either systems. :wallbash:

I am just wondering if the player is not compatible with UK systems, or could there be a fault in the USB cable.

If there is any useful information to correct the problem out there in cyberland would be gratefully received.

Have you checked to see if it needs a driver or special software installed with it? Though tbh i think it sounds more of a hardware problem as windows should still notice it.

plus i believe this to be in the wrong forum. A mod should be able to move it for you

    edit: better

:thumb: As far I can work out the drivers and other software in loaded in to the player which in my book makes plug and play. :thumb:

Please follow this link to view the instruction book.

At the moment it is plugged in to PC and the display is showing a picture off a watch and the word "WAITING" underneath it

:duh: How do I go about getting this post moved. :duh:

    its been moved already.
I cant really look at the manual at the moment since the pc im on is a load of crap, i'll have to wait untill i get home on monday.

The player is clearly detecting the connection but windows isnt. try going into device manager and seeing if it is there.
    right click my computer>properties>hardware>device manager
See if there are any items in there with exclamation marks on them, if there are try updating drivers for them.

I'm pretty sure with sony mp3 players, you need their software installed.

    he's got a Sanyo not Sony ;)

    this person's having a similair problem http://forums.techguy.org/multimedia/428107-sanyo-mp3-player-big-problems.html

so it might be worth trying this:

Create a file with NOTEPAD containing the following lines and save it as FIX.REG
-------------------------- cut after this line --------------------------------
    REGEDIT4

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Environment]

    "DEVMGR_SHOW_NONPRESENT_DEVICES"="1"
    -------------------------- cut before this line--------------------------------

Double click on FIX.REG and say yes to the Merge Into Registry question.

    Unplug ALL USB devices.
    Open Device Manager.
    View, Show Hidden Devices.
Uninstall all devices under USB Controllers.
Uninstall all devices under Disk Drives that you know are not present.
Uninstall all devices under Storage Volumes. Say no to any reboot prompts until you are finished. Also, if a Storage Volume doesn't uninstall, ignore it and move to the next one.
If you have a yellow ? with unknown devices, uninstall all of the entries there as well.

When this is done, reboot TWICE.

Reconnect the USB devices and see if they're recognized properly.

Yes, you'll need to find a standard keyboard and/or mouse, so a Serial mouse and/or AT/Ps2 mouse.

And please don't overdo the punctuation, it annoys people.

For the punctuation I referred to your subject of your previous post.

Have you tried what has been reccomended? I.e. the registry and/or looking for drivers?

    Re MP3 Player

:nono: After a lot off thought I have decided to send the offending item back to Sanyo, as I a feeling that there is no battery in it, as it has been on charge for over 10 hours and it still will not switch on, as mentioned in previous links that were listed all that shows up is the watch face and waiting is displayed. :nono:

    Thank You

    Terry Macavoy.
