If anyone has any suggestions please feel free to comment. Particulary on the name "Road Adventure 2007" because it sucks.

    Thanks...

I pretty much have the route finalised.
These are stages. There are plenty other large towns I drive through!

    Calais (France) - Lubeck (Germany)
    Lubeck (Germany) - Norrkoping(Sweden)
    Jankoping (Sweden) - Ornskoldsvik (Sweden)
    Ornskoldsvik (Sweden) - Kiruna (Sweden)
    Kiruna (Sweden) - Tromso (Norway)
    Tromso (Norway) - Ivalo (Finland)
    Ivalo (Finland) - Murmansk (Russia)
    Murmansk (Russia) - Petrozavodsk (Russia)
    Petrozavodsk (Russia) - Tallinn (Estonia)
    Tallinn (Estonia) - Minsk (Belarus)
** Going through Riga (Latvia) & Vilnius (Lithuania) **
    Minsk (Belarus) - Krakow (Poland)
    Krakow (Poland) - Wien (Austria)
** Going through Budapest (Hungary) & Bratislava (Slovakia) **
Wien (Austria) - Luxembourg (Kind of obvious)
    Luxembourg (...Luxembourg) - Calais (France)

It works out at about 6,250 miles. Over 14 days, so lots of driving.
I will have a website running shortly. I will be doing this in Febuary 2007.

If anyone interested in joining me please send me a PM.
Also please ask questions here and make comments.

    Thanks!

Sounds great...but won't the northern countries be a bit cold and snowy in February? Better make sure you have chains, shovels etc. in the back of the car, and make sure that your car has been serviced to within an inch of its life just before you go...

    Surely something like

"Euro Roads Extreme" would be better

Oh yes, very cold indeed. Minus 30*c with wind chill in some parts!
I am going to take proper snow tryes, studded and with silicone tyre walls.
Yeah I work for a garage and they look after my cars anyway.

Euro Roads Extreme won't work as I am going into Russia. I thought about Arctic Trip but I am going quite south again where it isn't cold.

I've done hot countrys already! Fancy a change.

I originally wanted to take an Audi A6 2.5 TDi Quattro, but diesel freeze easier than petrol. I don't want to take a big A6 petrol quattro!

Instead I am going to buy a Skoda Octavia 4x4Turbo... It has got the clever Haldex four wheel drive system and ESP so I should be okay.

*Ab$olut* Is there anything you can tell me about Latvia that I should know before going?

Erm they think taking over 6 cars round a blind corner is safe... :jawdrop: etc

I think its a requirement to have a sticker representing you have studded tires in winter or something would have to look into it think its same for the other baltic states.;)

Make sure you stop by riga alot of culture to be soaked in :thumb:

Yeah the whole thing will cost in total for everything I reckon £3,000. Included tyres, fuel, hotel, food and beer money, tolls, ferrys, and a little more to bride police with.

But I'm working on sponsorship. I will document the whole thing with lots of pictures and videos!

I also need to find myself a navigator/co-pilot!!!!

Be careful in Lubeck, it's like a miniature Bermuda Triangle. I went a couple of years ago, and it took us nearly an hour to get out of it (for those wondering, it's a small town, not a city).

Other than that, have a good time. Make sure you take plenty of pics! We'll be expecting a drive-log. :D

what u need a hotel for? sleep in the car .. lol..

beer money is essential. but being hung over is going to be bad.. i dont wanna have to see u lot all hung over in the morning.. it will just be depressing.

are the roads likely to be that bad though???
if so ill go get the studded tires too.. and ill grab some chains.. but ill have to be careful with the car.. cause it will be lowered after all.

No way, it will be rediculously cold in the car. Seriously down to MINUS 30*c with wind chill. Also you will ideally need aircon to stop the car misting up!

Yeah the roads will be really bad. On 2 on the stages I have planned they aren't even real roads, just gravel tracks covered in snow in the middle of no where.

I'm using a Skoda Octavia 4x4 hopfully that should mean I have some traction.

When you say "kitted up" to you mean chav chariot, or is it more tasteful?

How much does one of them Astra's cost?
