So what did you do to prep it mate? I heard you have to- 1.Wash the area 2. Get alchaol and clean the area 3. Wash area again 4. Sand the area 5. Clean the area, hoover it up 6. Primer. Did you do all that? lol.
lol well... 1.Wash the area - yup 2. Get alchaol and clean the area - nope 3. Wash area again - nope 4. Sand the area - lightly but was told i dont have to by paint man in shop when using brushed aluminium. 5. Clean the area, hoover it up - yup with damp cloth 6. Primer. - yup Second coat on mouse has finished, ill just go and take a picture, should be up within the next 10 mins. Paint has turned out alot better than i expected (nice and glossy) and i havent even wet sanded yet.
Nice mate! Get some clear coats when your finished to give it that glossy finish. Also are you going to cut up the sidepanel and THEN paint it?
Here is a picture of the mouse shell... The little white dots are tiny little lumps (will be sanded out) but are bought out by the flash. Sorry for the picture quality again, trying to find my tripod. I should have one side of the side panel done by tonight, if so ill post up another update. You can also see the colour difference between the plan and the paint i got, pretty small YAY...
The side panel: I have now sketched the logo onto the side panel. Its all abit wonky because it was done free hand but it is just to give an idea. I have decided against the text for now but may change my mind again later. Shame i cant cut it yet as i have no dremel but ill have one in around a week hopefully.
Finished the mouse: I have also done the first coat on one of the side panels and primered the other side of the door.
Looks great! Use masking tape on the sidepanel so that you dont scratch the surface while drawing/working on it!
I had no masking tape and couldnt be bothered to go and buy some seeing as the scratches would be painted over or cut (If any scratches came through that is)
This will probably be the last update on the painting for tonight. The door and side panel have both had two coats and are going to be another hour or so before they can be wet sanded. I would have started priming other parts but i ran out of primer , dont have a clue why i only bought one can. Anyway ill post some pics of the panel and door later when they have dried... Thought painting would be the best bit but cant wait to get it out of the way.
hmmmm, It is rather annoying. Will be picking up 2 more cans of primer tomorow and then probably another can of orange depending on how much i get through.
great work dude, althrough the half life theme is getting a little thin in the pc modding world, never the less, good.
Cheers, but thats why i did it, i didnt want to do somthing that alot of other people are currently doing + i like Hl2
lol. Well if you ask me too much is better than too little, atleast it can be used for other things like accessories if there is alot spare. I have gone through nearly two very big cans and done only one of the sides of a front section and one side on a panel. Oh well looks like im gunna be spending alot of money on paint.
Paint does add up, I don't know if there's a cheap place to source it, but I always end up paying £6 or so per can. My current project has cost about £60 in paint alone.
