It's time for the "eye of the case". The power button. I have'nt decided where to place the cd-eject button yet. Any suggestions?

Some various sockets and stuff I found in the scrap will eventually become a button...

I'm going to mill a large hole in this, so the button itself will fit through.

After some testing and fiddling I came up with a practical, and good-looking solution.

There... The hole is done. Let's assemble the button.

I but a piece of plexi inside the button itself. Looks good.

The holesaw is used to cut a large hole in the front.

Some orange lights will be placed in here eventually.

Assembled, and working perfectly. Besides the steel sockets, I used a used start-button from a scrapped case, and a short spring from some old kitchen appliance.

Mounted, and fits/works like a charm...

    Stay Tuned for more.

Which opening? You mean the acrylic? In that case I drilled a hole in both ends of the slot and used a mill bit for my dremel.

as for your dvd eject button you should try a proximity switch near the DVD so you dont have to worry about casework

Great work, like the blend of plexi and aluminium.
The slot load drive looks really good, along with the Power button. Overall its looking great.

about the plexi orange side panels you put in the last page are you going to use them or you got others planes for the sides panel?

beside that really nice work (you got a sick mod :) ) can't wait for the next update..... :D :p :jawdrop: :jawdrop:

    Whoops... sorry :duh:
I drilled a hole on either side of the slot, then widened them a bit using a metal-mill bit (for the dremel aswell). Then cutting through it with the jigsaw, after that some filing/sanding.

That sounds perfect... Where can i find one of those?

About the acrylic side panels. I'm not sure if i'm going to use them. If I do, they'll most likely be modified to fit the new setup.

Brilliant case. Just beautiful. Keep it up. I love that power button. So sexy. If this continues in the same vane (and I see no reason why not) then I agree that this is frontpage worthy.

For a guide on how to make a proximity/touch switch look here.

Edit: Will that acrylic be illuminated at all or just lit up with ambient light like it currently is?
