It's possible, but I'm in a fix atm... However, Summer is here and I have nothing pressing to do anymore...
no, it is very possible actually, i did it and was quite impressed. Ed's debian is great, and apt-get works fully!
Looking good. I love the mouse wheel, I think i'm gonna mod mine now. btw, I think that the model of HAL used on the mission was the HAL 9000, not 900. [edit]hehe, I didn't know "geek" was an actual smilie[/edit]
Nice work on the xbox. My brother said if you modify the xbox, M$ kick you off Xbox Live. Does anyone know if this is true?
Yep, completely true. Live checks to make sure your hardware is unaltered, and won't let you connect if it is. I believe there are more complex mod chip setups available that include a switch so you can "unmod" it on the fly, but the easiest solution IMO is to have two XBoxes -- one for Linux (or whatever), one for XBL.
Yeah, I know. My main machine (pc) is called HAL9000 so my xbox is like its little bro. Personally, I don't care about xbox live, but I can turn my modchip off anyway, so that I could use it... Cheers for the feedback. The good news is that I've started to move on this again. I just got some alu for the facia from maeterlinck so I should be making that soon.
For Christ's sake! Just when you think your Summer is free and you might get something done, your Grandma has a fall and then a hernia and you have to look after her for 2 months...
Fantastic to see someone doing this. I've wanted to do it since I got my box. Looks like some real progress, i will be keeping an eye on this one!
Wow this project is looking like its gonna turn out great. I wish I had a tenth of your modding ability. Keep up the great work.
cmon get a move on siiiickkkkk mod man but u gotta get some more updates we like to know what goes on with things ya know
The live service "marries" your information to your xbox hard drive serial number upon initial connection; if you change the hard drive you get booted... changing other hardware doesnt have that effect. If you modify your xbox with an upgraded harddrive before connecting to the live service for the first time it should work fine because it will marry your account information to that modified hard drive and not know the difference. Ive softmodded 2 xbox and hardmodded 1 and all work fine on live because I never connected before doing the mod; others should have the same experiance but as with anything nothing is guaranteed.
