    Hi,

Im putting alot of thought into modding my YY Cube.

Id love to have an LCD screen but Idealy I'd want it front mounted.

    Any suggestions?

    Is plastic easy to cut

    or

is there any sort of place where they would build you a one to your spec - Now were talkin!!! :thumb: :thumb:

Has anyone modded a YY cube front before?

Plastic can be easy to cut, but it could also be made to be extremely strong but on a PC case it is fine.

Yes I have cut a blow hole in the front of a yy cube. the plastic is very easy to cut, I used a drill to put guide holes in, then cut with a junior hacksaw. then finished the hole with a file.

On a different note I want to sell my YY server cube - but havent enough posts to put in the forsale forum. £110 Delivered to anywhere in the UK.

I think the front of the YY cube is its worsted aspect.

I was thinking of just making a new one out of perspex?

    what you all think?

K, so we've agreed the front needs replacing with perspex.

Where do we go from here then?????

Id be a big fan of a simple clean apperance. Two bulgin anit-vandal lighted switches for power on/power LED and reset/HDD activity. paint it from behind so you keep the shineyness and finish of plexi. only cut out the 5.25" holes youd need - black DVD/writer (no floppy) and if you have any fanbuses etc... and youd need to cut a blow hole in the botton left for the intake to the motherboard compartment.

    Just an idea..... happy modding!

    Clear perspex in guessing?

    How thick?

nothing wrong with painting the front, however if you painted the perspex from behind it will create a nice shiney finish very easily. no need to clearcoat or anything. Would be tricky to get right - but practice makes perfect :)

For thickness, im not sure... probably as thick as you can get and work with - again you wouldnt need much so wont hurt to give it a couple of tries to find out whatever works for you.

And if you go compeltly worng you can always buy my YY server cube off me and try again ;)
