Nice one modfather I absolutely think it will look trick on the ClearPC case. Its hard to tell from the view of the pictures, but do I see 4 pins on the back of the Voltmeter? I'm assuming two are wired for the 12v (red) and ground (black) to power the leds and the other two connect to a female molex connector. Can you provide a rear shot of the finished powered unit so I can see your wiring to confirm.

Possibly difuse those LEds a little so the light scatters more evenly through the unit?

Thats a good idea. To spread the light evenly through the unit :)

Are you still getting your 3mm leds from the same place .... when u sent me 5 about 4 or 5 months ago they were all different shades ... those two took to be slightly different too ;)
Try looking at a couple of them through a glass of coke and see if any of them look strange ....

    AM i MAD?

Great mod, I like the idea of doing it to an amp meter and diffusing the LEDs, I have loads of glass etch spray to use, but room on my case is becomming an issue.

Can you do too many mods?

P.S. Are you mad, if you are here, most proberbly.

    More gauges

After seeing this, I began thinking about maybe putting other gauges on the front of a PC. I was kindof thinking that maybe a few small round gauges would be cool, maybe a temp gauge, voltmeter, and either a ammeter or tach (hooked up to the CPU or case fan) would look pretty neat.

Not sure how to go about wiring like an electronic car tach up to a fan though....

http://www.egauges.com/ has some neat stuff, very retro. Some things would look very nice on an aluminum chassis, I think.

very nice mod, btw if you added a spdt switch to the Volt input side you could monitor both 12vdc and 5vdc :)

The Retro Voltmeter is very cool!

I'm thinking about using a round voltmeter from an automotive application if I can't find a round one elsewhere. Now you need to duplicate that for the 5V leads as well.

LOL, i have ordered three car type gauges, they would fit into the VW golf Mk2 Vortex console (if you have lost me, dont worry, im a car nut)

basic they are 40mm round ones, volt, amps, and possibly a water temp gauge Hmmmm

damn, i think i just gave away the secret of how im gonna get that celeron 1.2 upto 1.8

How about it into a VU meter for measuring the volume output of your soundcard. You'd get plenty of moving needle action and you could get two for stereo - far more visually exciting than mere voltage.
There must be a way to connect it up via serial or USB and get data from the windows mixer - or, i guess, you could run the output of the soundcard through it.

Let me know if anyone has any ideas for this :)

    Cheers
    Robin
