Tomato Torrent - a really decent bittorrent client.

    Features:
    .torrent creation
    tracker creation
    Upload speed control
'download to here' script, just drag torrents into folders and away it goes

    I don't think it's already been said...

EarthDesk - displays a world map on the desktop showing real-time clouds, as well as an accurate display of moonlight, sunlight, and darkness for the time of day. (And the cities glow at night, too ;))

Can't believe this hasn't been mentioned yet, Quicksilver, never have to fish around your Applications folder again. It's awesome, and speeds up your user experience loads.

    You Control: Tunes - http://www.yousoftware.com/itunes/

mookboy found this fantastic app last night and it really is a winner. At first glance, it's similar to ByteController, having Play/Pause, FF etc in the taskbar. But there's a plethora of other controls for iTunes there too. A drop down menu brings up everything you'd need to do, rather like a desktop-iPod menu style interface. Accessing all your tunes and playlists and such. It's just fantastic. Really, check it out. The overlay (including album art!) that comes up each track is great, as is the ticker that runs across the area of the taskbar.

    Just... Fantastic. Really is.

I agree with everything ^ he said. And it's completely free too.

I'd also like to offer a rather smart little app called YuBurner:

    http://hp.vector.co.jp/authors/VA027835/index_e.htm

Nothing more than a discreet CD/DVD burning app with a few more options than the standard drag-n-drop one that comes with OS X.

Access your iPod library using iTunes.

Basically, if, like me, you store your library on a network drive, you can use this program to access the songs on your iPod via iTunes without copying all your music to your i/PowerBook

Nobody mentioned BBEdit? Text/HTML/CSS/Code editor. Very slick, shareware though.

just discovered Quartz Composer (it's part of the development tools, though you can probabaly install on it's own if you trawl through the install package, either right click -> Show Package Contents or use something like Pacifist)

it allows you to create fairly complex graphics pretty easily (though trying to achieve something specific is a challenge at times) which you can use as screensavers (this is how the RSS screensaver is done in OS X) or as iTunes visualisers via iVisualise an iTunes plug-in and new patches for QC

also for those using Safari, check out Pimp My Safari which does a good job of gathering up a lot of goodies for the browser. I really like Inquisitor 3 which gives you Spotlight style live predictive searching.... It certainly looks nice, not sure how much quicker it is ;-)

The Unarchiver, does what it says.

Anyone have any suggestions as to virus scanners?

    Heh, yea. But we digress.
If anyone has any suggestions for an on access scanner with any kind of enterprise manager I'd be impressed.

If anyone wants a manual scanner by the way, ClamXAV gets good press.

I don't believe anyone's mentioned Coda or TextMate yet either.
Not played with Coda myself, but understand it's top notch for web dev, but I have been impressed with TextMate from personal experience.
