IF the game is violent then it's parent's responsibility to govern what their kids can and can't do or in this sense ( Can and Can't Play ) Stop blaming stuff on violence and start blaming the parents!

Its been said loads already but why should one lawyer have the right to decide what's best for everyone?

Don't want your kids to play it? Don't buy them it.

There is an 18 certificate on the box. Sorted.

The man's an idiot - nuff said.

If the game has an age certificate, then it's up to the store to check the age of the buyer (or down to the parent to decide whether they want their kids playing it).

Well, according to the Bit-tech review, there is no blood, your character defends people from bullies, and it is only a ficticious depiction of a school, why should it be banned?

In all honesty, I saw more violence in the playground when I was at school (daily beatings, bloody noses, people kicking each other in the crotch). I have to say, which is more damaging, seeing a person bleed in real life, or seeing some pixels on a screen that depict blood?

Yes, there is violence in the game, but that why there is age certificates, to control who sees this type of game. Responsibility lies ultimately with the parents, over-seeing what their child is playing.

They all wear wigs, at least english ones do.

I don't really see why they have to anymore.

Yeah he had a great argument about the judge having seen the game played too.

"How did he know that was the game".

How about you see the game before you attempt to ban it hey? I bet he complained about Jerry Springer Opera before that was even launched too!

    It really p1ss1s me off!

Jack Thompson and his ludicrous crusades aside, I think the game should still be treated with all due reserve. From what I've seen and read, it does seem a rather unpleasent, dark, and dare I say stupid game if you ask me... "bad taste" would sum it up.
The impression I get is that Rockstar didn't bother to develop a decent/original/clever game; instead they went for maximum controversy, providing maximum press coverage. A fair enough business strategy, but it still doesn't make for a brilliant gaming experience!

I don't think it should even be possible to ban a video game in the first place, I though America had free speech!? Well...in the reality America we get plenty of "Democracy" and "Free Speech"....My opinion is that parents need to get their heads out of their buttholes and pay attention to their kids. My parents let me play violent games, but they only do so because they know I am mature enough that I wont go kill someone after playing them. My mom has even done research into the effects of the game and that was her conclusion. Other parents should do the same thing, actually be parents!
