Hey, I've wanted to build my own desktop for a long time and have finally sat down to do some research as to what parts I'd like to put together. Here are a few things that I'd appreciate some help with as far as being compatible: So far I've bought the Intel Pentium 955 Extreme Edition Processor, and would like to pair it up with the following, if able. nVidia nForce 590 SLI Motherboard nVidia GeForce 7950 GX2 Video Card Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Elite Pro Sound Card and that's pretty much it so far. If some one could verify the accuracy of this I'd appreciate it very much. Also, if you have any suggestions for Memory, hard drives, optical drives or any feedback at all, feel free!
I would strongly reccomend that you try and return the EE CPU, or that board. Get a Core2Due (like the E6300) and either a 965x based board or wait for the nVidia 6XX series motherboards. Get some good air cooling on it and you'll get good performance.
I would take the new Nvidia G80, they will be released in a couple of weeks. And for the CPU I would take a Core 2 Duo. Good luck with building
It should be, but it'll be a bit of a waste. C2D pisses all over the old P4's, even the EE... Sorry dude.
