    It's been a long time, but finally I'll answer to question :D

    I've so far caught all my heatsinks for free.. They just lay around in large piles ;) All kinds of junkyards are best places to find heatsinks..

    interesting mod. does it signifigantly cool your hard drive? also, whered you get that huge heatsink?

    Tibby: I think that the huge heatsinks you're talking about aren't the ones I've used but the ones Jipa used.
    And mine, yes, from a beach chair, they were the armrests

    mattthegamer463: in my case it does, and you can feel the heat all over those aluminum bars.

    I would have at least a small gap between the HD and the PSU, as it should make it a bit cooler.

    Why don't you re use some old Heatsinks with fans.
    And just attach them to you Hdd ?

    Right now I have a ghetto setup, and my HDD is much cooler, I had it very close to the mobo tray.

    I've reused arm rests :p
    And fanless is better, no noise at all. ;)

    I've done that a couple of years ago, but with a little difference.

    The use of rubber decrease the vibration, so it reduce the noise level.
