It's been a long time, but finally I'll answer to question

I've so far caught all my heatsinks for free.. They just lay around in large piles All kinds of junkyards are best places to find heatsinks..

 

hey, nice mod but my computer case is to small to do that lol (im so poor)

 

interesting mod. does it signifigantly cool your hard drive? also, whered you get that huge heatsink?

 

You got the massive heatsink from a chair?

 

Tibby: I think that the huge heatsinks you're talking about aren't the ones I've used but the ones Jipa used.
And mine, yes, from a beach chair, they were the armrests

mattthegamer463: in my case it does, and you can feel the heat all over those aluminum bars.

 

I would have at least a small gap between the HD and the PSU, as it should make it a bit cooler.

 

Why don't you re use some old Heatsinks with fans.
And just attach them to you Hdd ?

 

Right now I have a ghetto setup, and my HDD is much cooler, I had it very close to the mobo tray.


I've reused arm rests
And fanless is better, no noise at all.

 

I've done that a couple of years ago, but with a little difference.


The use of rubber decrease the vibration, so it reduce the noise level.
