Greets peeps, Its been a while since ive been around, mostly due to work and the loss of a computer for all but half an hour a day.. that aside Im getting a whopper of a paycheck next week and its computer time. My budget is going to be around $1000-$1300 USD For just the tower and components, dont need a monitor, kb/mouse, but I would like to add the Klipsh 2.1 promedia speakers on unless someone knows somehting that sounds better for less (mostly Im tired of dealing with 5.1 as most music doesnt play on it and ive never been able to get true 5.1 with onboard of any type, or any creative card. Leading me to belive the speakers are messed up or im retarded.) Here is the twist. Ive been out long enough that I dont know what the best is for my money. My goals are lots of internet, music, multimedia, and WoW, and assorted other games. I would like this to be dual core and contain maybe 2 gigs of ram so that I may play more intense games like HL: ep 1 and the future ep. 2. I have put together this AMD system and would like your opinions and if anyone can price me a comparable intel system I wouldnt mind. Overclocking is not a big deal to me but stability is top priority. wow a non conroe upgrade! lol! Ok everyone here is going to say 'why dont you have a e6300 or e6600' i can put money on it! I would kick the board up to a 590 chipset, as the 570 is the little boy of the two. Also if you are not interested in overcocking a cheap mobo would do the same job as a more expensive board http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813138033R And i cheaper faster graphics card http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814143049R is will save you money as you would run into problem with heat with the other card, unless you have really good air cooling. my friend fried a gigabyte 6600 (non GT) which has passive cooling. The rest is fine.
huzzah, im glad you didnt say conroe, everybody is going nuts over it, but let me just say this *puts on flame retardant suit* intel is not for gaming. there i said it =P amd is better end of story, benchmarks wenchmarks, its all bs when amd qaud core rips the smiley face off intel system owners now, where were we =P all is good, really, but you really want the Asus M2N32-SLI deluxe, this board kicks bootay and is the best oc'er ive ever come into contact with.
A thumbs up for the processor, power supply, and case. Works for me! We shall resist these Conroes together! Well, not so much resist, as envy the power they have while feeling stubborn about sticking to AMD. But basically, everything looks good. Although I would second Burnout's suggestion of graphics card.
for $110 you can do a lot better than the enermax liberty. The liberty nets you 32a on the +12v rails combined. For $129, Corsair HX520 will net you 40a. Plus it's modular, and made by seasonic so it's rather quiet.
great, I was wondering about that PSU, but i hadnt seen much about it yet. I must have linked the wrong board becuase I thought i did the M2N32-SLI board... odd. The video card you linked Burnout is an openbox sale, should i go for a new one or you think this is fine? I generally dont trust many returns regardless of the reason.. as im not one to return something unless it was horrible to the max. To be perfectly honest I am the exact opposite of an intel fanboy. I will admit that they made a great processor for a change but AMD will strike back and if it were not for AMD nothing would have changed at all with intel The 65Watt 3800 X2 has been hand in hand with solid reviews everytime ive seen or heard of it so even though its entry level for dual core, its still pretty good for 150 bucks. I am rather dissapointed with the price of ram for sure. Is DDR2 800 really going to give me much of an edge over a lower rating like 533 or 667? I would like to have something decent but at this cost i dont know if its justified...
