Right, I'm using a 5.1 headset at the moment, which is great but means I can't just set music playing in my room from the PC. I'm getting a set of 5.1 speakers but what I want to know is can I get something that I can plug into my PC and then plug two outputs into to switch between? So have speakers on normally but when I want to play a game at night just hit a button rather than have to unplug and replug four different cables. that's about the best way I can think of to explain it - I've tried google but since I don't know what exactly I need it's a bit hard. Cheers in advance
the easyest way I can think of is to run the headphones in analog and the speakers from a digital source with an amp/decoder then just turn the speakers off and pick up the headphones. If not take something like a printer switcher and make some breakout leads.
Speedlink make a set of 5.1 headphones which have a break out box to allow 5.1 speakers to also be connected. I paid about £45 for mine and they are pretty good.
I'm using the speedlink headphones but I have the pro gamer version, since it was the only one I could find in stock, and it doesn't have the breakout box. Might try emailing them to see if it can be ordered separately
