It's as great as the first one, and I'm loving the whole play bass / rythm addition.

However one thing your review didn't mention is that there is already wireless guitar controllers out for the PS2 LINK .

Just from what i played whilst standing in best buy made me addicted to it. I wish my ps2 still worked :waah: That and I love to play The Kinks- You Really Got Me , even if it is the van halen version (made from the real master tape tho)

    Edit: Fixed!

I find it interesting how this and the Wii are taking a different approach to immersiveness. Rather than focusing on great graphics and sound, they get the player up and actually physically participating in the game.

Hiren - I didn't know about that site. I had a look in our local Game and on a few mainstream websites. Cool link!

    Lol,

However wireless guitars wouldn't be cool- more authentice to have an animated roadie scooting across the screen to reconnect after you pull the controller lead out.

Nah the best add-on has to be the external amp.

I have played (& almost completed in hard mode) Guitar Hero 1 - awesome game, so I was really looking forward to Guitar Hero II, pre-ordered it & everything...but I was very let down by the lack of cool songs.
There are only a handfull of cool tracks on II (including the bonus tracks) IMO.
Also, wasn't Dragonforce supposed to be on it?

Overall the game is a let down in single player mode, because of the lack of good tracks. Practice mode is OK, but I prefer to thrash it out on the song until I get it right personally. The only thing I like about Guitar Hero II is the new co-operative playing mode.

I feel like I'm going to go to hell for saying this, but...

I'm surprised they're not selling downloadable add-on tracks for this game. Seems like a natural revenue stream. That or a program to convert your own music to GH2 tracks. Sounds like a good homebrew project

I completety agree Cthippo, I know I'd pay for a few good tracks.
It would be very cool if you could stick a CD in there & import it to the game though

Don't think they are allowed to, since all the tracks in games are specially recorded covers and not originals.

    I must get this game!

Any point getting it on the PS2 and buying guitar hero I as well or should I just stick with the sequel? If I stick with GH2 then I might get the 360 version, even if the controllers look ****.

I have no interest in this game at all, whatsoever, but it was still one of the best reviews ever.. why?

Sorry to bum the reviewers hopes, but in a recent press release, Red Octane said that MS is being hush hush with the wireless tech, so a remote guitar might not happen...
