Im getting 4 compaq office pc's and was going to cluster them (play with linux clusters) Is there anny issue i should know first and what distro should i be looking at.
They should be alright, I think most of the standard drivers should be picked up by the standard Kernel.
For clustering, I use Knoppix with OpenMossix. Works like a charm. Your hardware will be fine, don't worry about that.
Excellent! I know absolutely nothing about how to go about clustering but I have 4 PCs at home and I only really use one of them. (1.66GHz Core 2 Duo, 1GHz VIA Eden-N, 2GHz Opteron 146 and 1.5GHz Pentium M). I have no idea if I can cluster them or not so I'll be keeping an eye on this thread.
It doesn't have to be hard... http://clusterknoppix.sw.be/ OpenMosix cluster software on a Knoppix platform
Thanks for the link, Glider! Excellent - apart from the user documentation: Nien sprecken zie deutsche. Das ist nicht gut!
Grrr the projects in danger of not happening before it starts. Hopefull if it works out i could get them, do the cluster then supply them to a school preloaded with edubuntu.
