I read somewhere that uv light is dangerous and can cause cancer it it true? becasue i want to buy Uv cold cathode tubes
its fine, UV covers a very broad spectrum of light frequencies (basicaly any light with a higher frequency than visible light), UV cold cathode lights (black lights for our friends in the US) generaly emit the lowest frequency light possible for them to be clasified as UV. UV can be dangerous but only when you get to the higher frequencies such as the UV light thats given off by the sun and tanning beds. don't worry, you'll be fine.
i don't get the big beef with inverters exploding, mine have been fine for what seems like forever, though they are sharkoon oh, and my inverter is out of the way of any of my components (velcroed low down to the outside of the drive bays) just to be on the safe side. Make sure you do too!
Mine have been fine too, and ive got those cheapo ebuyer ones (3 of them), had them about 3 years now at least.
haha thats like saying, i dunno what it is about people saying these cheap hairdryers kill you in the bath.... although mine was expensive.... and i don't use it in the bath.... It's a quality issue. Cold cathodes are a "cheap" mod. but to make them cheap, they make really bad quality items. This can equal fire!
i think the ones were from a bad gen, as in they all were exploding in 04? (maybe 05) but as makers keep changing parts they become more stable... sometimes
If you can get ccancer from a burning/exploding inverter fear for your life if you can't then protect your comonents (and maybe you pets and children or spouse) Also UV lights and any light really actually produces UV radiation its a known fact the amount well Ill let you guess why you can sit next to lights all the time and not get cancer.
the amoutn you would be exposed to would be minimal, Uv cold cathodes are fine, it's not like you work in a club that runs black lights 24/7
The UV light is no problem but I'd suggest you put your inverter where it wont ruin anything if it explodes all of a sudden. The chances are very slim but just in case, it only takes a few seconds and can save you components
Even then it doesn't matter. The wavelengths of those UV lights are far too big. Light is radiation, therefore UV light is UV radiation. It's just not a problem until it's very short wave UV and in high exposures.
