    Update 25/12 - 06

So, more sanding and polishing work
I have tested polish a little on the chassis, but I don't know if I like it, what do you think? Should I have a little more "rough" polish or should I paint it black?

    Here are some pics

As you cas see; the surface is pretty rough, but maybe it's cool, i don't know, you decide :)

And here is a little work-movie of me sanding the chassis

    Big Update 6/1 - 01

Yeap, it has been a while since the last update. But I have been at the workshop 2 times and the progress is big.

I have painted the frontframe black.

I have also painted the inside and the back of the case black.

When the frame had dryed, I went on making holes for the hinge. And then I mounted the hinges.

    The base-frontaluplate was testfitted.

    testmounted on the chassi
    [IMG]

After that I drilled holes in the frontplate and the baseplate and mounted them together with the distances and some insexscrews. Although this is not how it will look like, cause you all know that I will have plexiglass behind the frontplatet that will be lid up by the LED's
    [IMG]

This is how the workbench looks after 3 hours. Not a pretty sight, but all the tools are necessary.

I found out that it was really hard to use a black vinylfilm to tint the plexi. So my dad got me some tinted real glass. Yes, it is some heavy ****, but it is nice :)

The effect is, that if I dont have the case lighted at the inside, you wont be able to see through the glass. But if it is lighted, you will se through.

These are the insexscrews and nuts that I am using. Shiny stuff. M4.

    Yep, i've got a few.

I really like the look of the front bezel. Are there going to be any lighting effects behind the first layer?

    Thank you very much!

For you who liked the movie that I had earlier, here is another one:

Looking really good there, chrome on black always a classic ;)

When wet sanding also try having water running along the surface while sanding, it helps

    looking nice=)

Hey NysoO...lovin the mod...especially love the chrome look. Watched ur video on youtube for the sanding and polishing...awesome finish you came out with, i'm aiming for that with my mod...not sure if ur panels are alu or steel. i got steel and i spent hours and hours sanding and polishing and am unsure what i'm doin wrong. Can you drop a pointer or two...Thanks...

Well, the process is not hard, but you really need to have patiance.
Start with 400grit wetsand to get the pain away from the case, sand a LOT so you really get a good surface. When you feel that you are satisfied with the surface, you move on to 600 grit, same process here, sand a LOT. You really need to get the big scratches away from the earlierer sanding. When that is done, move along to 800, same principe here as for the 600 grit. and then finish with 1000 grit. A lot of it. This is all about patiance.
You always have to work in the same direction when you are going to polish, dont make circular movements.
If the surface is good, it should be smooth and nice. You shouldn't be able to see any scrathes and stuff.
If you are done with this, the real ****-work starts.. polishing.
I use autosol and a polergarn. You have to rub a LOOT. I used a whole autosoltube, and just on the roof i polished surely for at least 1 hour. This is all about patiance, the more you polish, the better it will get. It is just as simple as that. It is also good to keep a pressure on the polishinggarn.
And always work in the same direction when you polish and sand.

    Hope that is enough :)
