Heres my first car taking it's first drink under my ownership, picked it up last wednesday:

It's an X reg Vauxhall Corsa 1.4 SRi 16V. Needs a good clean more than anything.

Currently looking for some standard SRi springs as the previous owner lowered it and its a bit low for my liking as I can't get it over the college speed bumps :(.

That'll make a good first car, Deathrow, as long as you don't chav it up ;)

    Not going to ;).

I bought a corsa because they're nice to drive, they're not slow for a first car, they get good MPG and they look good. Not to mention they have silly low insurance.

I would think a 1971 Challenger T/A is a little unrealistic for a first car.

Its been some time since I posted here. I had a 01 Jetta Wolfsburg Edition but two months ago I got in a bad wreck and totaled it. I now have an 85.5 Porsche 944 and am looking to get a late 70's VW Rabbit. I will edit this and post some pics soon.

A Corsa's a perfectly good first car, don't listen to people who tell you otherwise. I think people are just bothered because:
    a) There are far too many of them in Max Power magazines
    b) Clarkson tells everyone how crap Vauxhalls are

Corsa A's are good cars, as are Corsa C's like the one above.

    Corsa B's are poo :).

Corsa A being the Nova in the UK, yeah?

I've only driven the C like the one Deathrow's got, both a 1.2 and a 1.4 and they were both quite nice to drive.

Not meaning to have a dig at you for buying one Deathrow, I'm sure you are very happy with it, just adding to the Corsa discussion... I've driven a B and C and they both seemed far too weighty and understeery for such a small car, something like a MK5 Fiesta is worlds apart, they seem so much more nimble.

Dunno about that ChrisX, this thing is really nippy and the grip never ends, I can confidently throw it in to corners and know it's not going to let go on me. It's a nice feeling, and it's oh so easy to park! I think the choke might need some adjusting, or maybe its just the cold, but it can be a bit hit and miss starting it up.

Aren't they all the same chassis though?

The A and B are similar in some respects, but no.

    Corsa A = Nova.
Corsa B = 'the first corsa in the uk'
    Corsa C = pictured above
Corsa D = the brand new one

Hmm, nice car. All of them compacts look the same though, haha. Well, at least to me.

I just don't like the way Corsa's drive personally, I learnt on a Corsa C and the steering feels completely disconnected from the wheels, the engine underpowered (the 1.2 at least) and the biting point far too high.

It could be that that I hate it because it's the car I learnt in, though...

I'm learning in the new Corsa D, and have to say it's totally different from the C which I was learning in. Seems handle better and the clutch is very easy to control. It's better looking too!
