after looking at this article ( http://www.frostytech.com/articleview.cfm?articleid=1192&page=1 ) , which had an excilent and cheap source of mesh grill material....i quickily obtained some and set out to change the front grill on my lian-li... here is the orginal grill (painted)....its actually very restrictive and contributes to alot of fan noise...and it doesent let me show of my nice painted fans..... here we have the doner material...a simple wire mesh paper holder from staples-business depot. a section cut to the same size as the stock grill.....notice the dramatic difference in the hole size.... the new grill installed....lookin good... o ya, definitily looking good...look at those purdy fans... and a final shot of the system... i have some blue illumination im going to install tomorrow that should light up the fans niceily....
Nice one CH... looking good... but now you know you need to spice up those fans =) Perhaps a little black light reactive stripes
what about some glitter and streamers? other than that it looks cool (comical reference to you name) please forgive me for the lame jokes as i just woke up
looks nice... i'm still trying to think up something imaginative to do with my pc60 grill... and failing miserable so far :cries:
Very nice CoolHand. I was wondering when we were going to get to see those fans again. Alaric: when you think of something post some good pics so I can rip it of...err...get some ideas too.
v nice but i think i perferred the old mesh better as the fans look a bit ugly imo as they are not right in the mniddle of the mesh u should have sprayed the old mesh black! soz for the criticism!
heres part two....lighting installed. first of, here are the donor parts...5" neon from wallmart... its going plugged into my lcd, so a new power cable was in order lots of room to mount the components... wires to neon shortined and reconnected the completed unit ready for installation. everything installed and connected. beauty shot 1 beauty shot 2 beauty shot 3 as a nice bonus...my orbital control center switches now have a nice blue glow around them.....
its a neon....but looks more like a cross between a neon and cathode as it puts out more light than a std neon, but less than a cathode.... not sure who makes it...threw away the packageing long ago....they got them at wallmart though..
Nice work Coolhand! I tried the same thing effect with my PC68. I used a 6" CC but it was much too bright. I'm currently making and LED light for the front as well as some light block (I don't care for the look of light leaking out of the drive cracks). Most times I leave my filter inplace for it traps a lot of dust, however for beauty shots I always take the filer off. I love the look of the fans inside the the front grill
Very nice CH! The glowing keypad is definitaly a bonus. I'll have to do something about the front grill on my PC60 now.
