deadend, no option to raise the voltage. ... well 2.3ghz is not bad of a overclock, plus on a cheapo mobo...HELL YEA!!!
Ram's rated to 330 mhz, and you're currently running it at 380+ with what appears to be stock voltage. If you have options to increase memory voltage then do that, otherwise look for a memory divider to try and drop the memory speed a little. That should gain you a little more on the overclock front. Keep the ram at 2T for now, although AM2 is capable of running 1T happily enough it'll probably drop the max memory overclock especially with a lower end board as you seem to be using.
Ah apologies, I thought sackingz123 had dropped it already, as I'd said to do in an earlier post in this thread. Take heed of Highland3r's advice, he certainly knows his stuff.
hey guys, i benchmarkered my system wit a x4 HTT, and i posted a lower score on PCmark04 wit a score of 53XX i had a score of 555X when the HTT was auto, should i raise my HTT???
see how far you can get your CPU to go without raising the voltage, as that can be fairly dangerous (especially if you are a novice overclocker). once you have reached a wall (mobo does not POST) then either use a RAM divider (which will prevent the memory from going over a certain speed, preferebly its rated speed 533, 667, 800, etc) or lower the HT multiplier. also, have you been monitoring temperatures and stress-testing your CPU? this is a key step in OC'ing, to make sure it is stable.
A good all round overclock for the X2 3800+ would be 2.5Ghz easy to acheive on stock volts, 4xHT will give you a 1000HT also your memory will run at 400mhz if you use the divider for DDR400 or 500mhz without the divider if you have DDR500.
ACHIEVED 2.4GHZ!!!!!!! Now am tryin to get windows to boot over 2.4ghz, having problems booting. I upped the voltage to give it juice. I couldnt boot the PC going over 2.3ghz on stock votlage. I boot the voltage up and i got 2.4ghz ....YAYA, i have to say its much faster.
I'm assuming you found a setting to change the cpu voltage then? Congrats dude. What did you set the voltage to? And have you checked the cpu temperature yet?
yea dude. thanks for the help man. I got it set at 1.3 cpu temp is ranging from 25 to 29c <---from the bios
You can do, apparently disabling it can allow for a little extra overclocking in certain circumstances. Be aware that it may have been working to keep your fan noise down so you might have a sudden rise in fan noise when disabling it. That's a flippin' good temperature! What settings are in the bios for your memory/ram? Are there any that say ratio, frequency or multiplier?
Thanks. Using 3 80mm fans and a 120mm fan in a cheap powamax case. ok, i guess i should not disable the cool n quiet then. Hmm...the options. (courtesy of www.ocworkbench.com)
