Way to go ;D! Looks nice, love the SketchUp aswell Ill soon start my first mod too, and im planning to keep a log up in here. Always nice to see what other first-timers can do ***
gotchya, thanks for clearing that up. I thought the motherboard was a part of the inside of the case, not the door. oops.
Thanks for the link Duste!! Nice case that Pininfarina... Had I seen it before, I could have avoided several problems I got trying to make it all fit... In fact I think I can take some ideas from it (I had totally forgotten to get some space for the front connectors.... ) and right now I don't have any space in the back plate for air exausts... Thanks for your comments. Keep them comming please... !!!
Welcome to the forums, Mr-IK, and thanks for your interest! Sorry for not showing any "real work" this days, but we have some "Auditors" at the company and I have to keep my "personal" stuff out of sight... Please keep comments and/or suggestions coming..!!
These sketches look gorgeous. I'm just a lil' bit concerned about the stability. If the top moves down due to missing rods supporting the top, the right door might (eventually) rub against the upper border.
V3ase, Undigo: The sketchup model is not complete. It was missing an "L" shaped bar that connects the front, top and back plates together, and also the disk bays' supports, that will be connected to the lower and top plates, adding a lot of stability to the case, like this... It is also missing all the screws and rivets that connect all the pieces together, as well as the hinges (too lazy to model those... ) Sorry for omitting them in my previous post, and thanks for your concerns!! Please keep your comments and suggestions coming!!!
Ah, now i see. Now that looks stable. By the way, great idea with the "x", but it's pretty difficult to keep temperature at a level where molding is possible without creating these annoying bubbles. Good luck with the acrylic molding.
Thanks for the compliments, Unding...! I haven't given another try at the acrylic X molding yet, but I will... I received some advice on why that happened and how to avoid it, so I hope next try will be different... (or the next one after that... )
when i saw the title of this thread i got worried that there might be a naff theme mod, but dam dude this case is sick!!! keep it going but simple. the plan white or aluminium with the xmen X looks tasty!!!!
very nice! i've got an idea ....what about adding wolverine's blades above the front fan? or put some scratches an the side panel from wolverin's blades.. or clouds and thunders (storm) ofcourse if you like wolverin /storm and my idea... or you prefer your mod to be elegant? (very very nice too... i like elegance)
First, thanks to all for your comments and suggestions. Keep them coming!! tolis86. In fact, Wolverine's claws will be supporting the front X in place (right now it is kind of "floating in space" in the sketchup model) and they will also be on top of the right side door molded "X", but I haven't modeled them yet... Finally, the left door's window will have an image from the movie (hopefully laser etched if I can find a provider in Costa Rica...). I still have to make up my mind as to the image to use... Stay tuned, auditors finish their visit this week and I will restart working on the case over the weekend...
yes, now that their visit is almost over, and they didn't bother us too much, I am not that mad at them for having to stop working on the case for more than a week...
That's the problem Damouse, I work in a pharmaceutical company, and my "modding work place" is outside of the servers' room, were I work after hours or during lunch time... (no space at home for my hobby )
where did those stars come from ?? Thanks!!! That motivates me to get rid of the "auditors" fast ... ...and go back to ...
those sketchups alone deserve some stars. I'm following this one, throwing some stars your way as well
