have you checked to see what com port your pc has assigned to it ??
mine is com 4

 

Seems like a good idea. The LCD looks like it started correctly, so the problem is probably with the PC-Pic communication. Check com-port setting as Wayneeboy said, also check cabling and circuit on the usb-side.
And don't try what I did, connecting the switch to Vusb. Very strange things happen when you push that button...

 

The LCD has not started correctly. Check the connections between the PIC and the LCD. Also, does windows recognise the device when you plug it it?

Wayneeboy, can we have photos of yours in action? What firmware and PCB layout are you using? Does it work nicely?

Might be mistaken about the LCD, thought the squares indicated correct init. Maybe the contrast setting is wrong?

 

i used the board and firmware you posted at the begining
of this thread. It works a treat, not had any problems at all

Just done another, but LCD don't display anything. Can LCD dead? Or how to test LCD work or not.
If LCD dead and i do right, dose windows still recognise ?.

Sounds like a programming problem or the PIC not running. Do you have any photos you can share of your board to eliminate the possibility of errors with your hardware.

When programming, can you successfully verify the contents of the PIC?

 

Check if windows senses the USB port
(<windowsbutton + Pause|break> and then devicemanager)
If it senses it but not what it is = probably something to do with "VUSB" capacitor
If it senses it and it got PID and stuff try the driver, download again in case of someting braiking in the transfer.
If it won't even sense an USB thing = lots of reasons, check all wiring and double check it.

maybe look at adding some outputs for the unused pins so we can update the software and use the extra I/O.

looks a bit hard to make at home though being bouble sided etc.

Hi.

Is Eagle + Eagle 3D + POV Ray

It has 6 GPOs (6 x smd led from old broken Cell Phone). I don't need more than 6 low power outputs. The board is single sided, but has 5 aerial cable (unconnected vias on the image, like this picture ).

When I buy and solder components, I'll post photos

 

Really nice 3D image but if you are going to do a SMT board why not do all the components that way? Also if you are doing a single sided board it will be easier to solder if you have the through hole parts on the none copper plated side.

i unlucky and will be crazy
I plug in and windows recorgnise it as CDC RS-232 Emulation Demo, i install driver, OK but result like this too

I made PCB, sure connect PIC to LCD correct.
PS: I don't know why always error when i programmer my PC

is your programmer a JDM type ?? i had problems like you had with it
so i built a usb programmer and it works a treat.i built the brenner8-P

what im wondering is are the errors allways with the same numbers? or do the numbers change?

I found with mine i could program it and it would error, so i would do it again and it would get further., i kept doing it until it got all the way to the end.

might be worth a try. Also make sure any cables from the programmer to the pic are short, like 3-4cm if possible. also some of the software i was playing with i was able to slow down the programming which helped a bit.

Also looking at the LCD it looks like the program isnt doing anything to it. so i guess with the error the pic isnt programmed properly. can you do a verify of the pic?

how was the usb programmer to contruct? i have been looking at different programmers to make. im thinking a ICD2 or pickit2 clone atm but im open to options

ALso an anyone open and print proteus circuits? if so let me know as i found a pickit2 clone that i wouldn t mind having a go at but its got proteus 6 drawings.

Only if you use an USB programer:

Old versions of Winpic800 have compatibility problems with some USB Host controllers if they are Open Host type or OHCI type.

Go [windowsbutton + Pause|break] and then devicemanager
search for your USB host.
If yoy see the word "open" or "OHCI" may you have an incompatible USB host.

Solution:

Try with newer version of winpic or try an USB PCI card with VIA or Intel chipset.

You can program your pic in diferents computers.

I use winpic800 with a USB PCI card because I have an incompatible mobo.
