Project "Dark Crystal" - | UPDATE | 26.04.2007 | The front + a question

Hi everyone

After finishing my first Mod (Half Life 2 - Themed) I decided to mod a new case.
I was searching very long for inspiration and so my eyes came over my friends case. This friend is called Max Erlandsson aka Sleepstreamer.
The design is awsome, but don't think it will be a copy of it.
I only take one idea and thats the one with the plexi-frames, but it will completely look different.
I told him about my idea, because I dont want to take an idea without permission.
Ok so lets start
The case is the same as Sleepstreamer used, an Antec SLK3000B.
I use this case, because my friend got one, which he doesn't need.
So I asked him and bought it for a few bucks

I have no photo of the case, but u can use the search on google


Here are the (don't know the english word for this ) "things" u need for Watercooling, so that the tubes don't get of the connectors.



And these are the screws I will use. I like them so much.



Here the screws and the other things painted black.

 

Those are connectors for hydraulic systems.
The use of them u will see in the later Log. I have to paint them black later.


I drilled a bigger hole in them so that the screws fit.


U can see here only four of them, but I have about 20 of them lying here


The real modding I started today with a metal sheet that will cover the under front of the case. Here is the printed version (CorelDRAW) stucked on a metal sheet.


20 minutes later; VOILA, a perfect ( ) cutted sheet out of 1mm stainless steel. My friend (DREMEL) helped me


After filling and some sanding I bend the metal sheet. There should be a bigger bending radius, so I bend it myself with 2 hammer


Here is the sheet with screws.
There will be cut a hole in it I will show u later.
Behind i will put two white LED Fans (120mm and 80mm)

seems that your stainless could use some more sanding. Removal of scratches, and those edges on the last pic looks quite unfinished.

 

Looks cool. Do you have any sketches of what it will look like?

 

It's not finished already. Sure that I have to sand it, but I wont sand it before I dont drilled all holes.

Yes, here on paper.
But if I scan it, u won't find out how it look like.
Because some things are only in my head.
But u will see in a while

Here is a little Update
I've got some tube springs (is it right ?) for the, eh, tubes


I painted them black so the fit the theme.


Also I drilled the holes for the 80mm Fan which comes in the under front.


I ordered one squaremeter of plexiglas (clear, 4mm thick) today.
I also ordered the clear Fans on eBay, where I put the white LEDs in (which are also ordered on eBay ).

So here is a pic, how the fans will look like.


I think I can start with the plexi bending next week.

I forgot, I also ordered a TITAN AQUATUBE

, which will be illuminated by 2 white (14000mcd strong LEDs)

I hope for good feedback. I know u dont know how the case will look like, but I hope for a good log.

nice . hey can you tell me about this every thing ? from were you buy and what size and how much it cost and every thing ...

because I need a lot of them for my project to make the case move with the remote ( like RC car )

Hi guys
Here is a little update for ya.

Those are little rubber rings I made for reducing the vibrations of the two front fans.


By the way I finished the under front with two last bending acts
The free angle there will be WIG-welded. My uncle will do this job.


Then I made little tubes for some space between the plexi-forms, which will come around the front.


With the help of this useful tool, I made the "spacer" out of the hydraulic tubes, I mentioned earlier.


This is not final, I made the plexi only to see how it looks.


This is the front of the two plexi-forms, but there is some sanding of the spacer needed

EDIT: I dont like it anymore, I will get some other spacers form a good friend in germany

Lets update this log with a few of my newest pics

Finally I got the case of a friend I told u before.


With some helpful tools, the case will be disassembled
VOILA, it's done.


I wanted to have a case where u can look in the right side window to see all the hardware, like LIAN-Li, and so i had to put it back together in a different way


I went to a market a bought some of those sponges.


Those sponges will be for the EHEIM 1046. They are absorbing all the moves the EHEIM are giving, when it's started. It will look like a sandwich

The LED-fan arrived yesterday, but I couldn't find it with white Leds. So it's got uv ones. So i had to make a LED-chain around the fan.
The fan looks not good on the pics, but in real it looks


Those things u know.

I have a good idea for those. Tomorrow there will be another update and u will see, what I will do to them.

Hi guys
Time for an update

I made the vibration-reducer for the Aquastream pump I will order this afternoon. U will see, it's a vib-killer



It will be held together with the glue-gun and some screws.



So thats for today i think, maybe and update will follow in the evening

Hi everybody on bit-tech
Ok, it's again Update-time.
I arrived today a package from a watercooling shop in Germany. Those package will contain some cool stuff for my Dark Crystal.

First of all the CCFL's of Revoltec. Color is white.


Next the tubes for the watercooling stuff. The clear ones are for the outside of the case, the black ones for inside.


And at the end the LED kit I needed to iluminate the aquatube, I will recieve this week i hope. Btw I made a white LED for it in a few minutes.


I think the next update will follow on thursday

that design which is as you put it like Lian Li where the motherboard is upside down similar to a BTX is called WTX, but interesting work so far.

To the WTX, i like it more when u can see in the right side and that the PSU is on the bottom.
