Okay, this is my first time on these forums and i'm a total noob at this so bear with me :thumb: . I was thinking of modding a case i got at a garage sale and was wondering what advice you could give to a first timer. I had come up with a few design ideas in sketchup and took a couple of pics of the case I was going to mod so here they are (my camera suck dont blame me for the crappy pics). :sigh:

    The Top

    The front

    The right side

    The Left side

    Back

Now on to ther real pics(bear in mind this is just some no-name brand case with everything striped out of it)

    Side without panels

Now I have a few questions to ask before you all try to give me advice,

    1. could I possibly do all of this with only a dremel and if so will this one work(im on a tight budget, only 20 bucks a week for mowing the lawn :jawdrop: )

    2. do you have any ideas that could make this better

3.this is not a question but as I said above, im on a "very" tight budget wont be able to afford much in the expensive range

4.this is going to be a gaming rig once i have the cash to buy the "innards" of the case

    5. should i get a new case to mod or will this work if i should can you give me a link to a good one????

Any and all advice will be appreciated and thanks in advance.

dremel will be able to do it but you will be better using a variety of tools a jigsaw and drill come to mind.

plan it out completely before starting make some coloured diagrams on sketch up to check everything get the exact dimensions

modding is all about making a case more functional and making it unique an look goo for you.

There is plenty that you could do to that case, you don't need a top of the range case to mod it. One slight problem is that you don't appear to have an HDD cage. A Dremel would work to do a whole mod but it isn't advisable. Minimun tools I would recommend would be a drill, dremel and Jigsaw which are not incredibly expensive tools.

To be honest I don't think you should be asking anybody for ideas until you have a base design for your mod. Give us a theme and a basic outline for your mod and then we could probably help you but at the moment we are just staring at a bit of white with some lines on it.

use a jigsaw and a wooden template for the straight cuts and the dremel for the curved cuts. Weird shape of front panel you may be better going with a more standard layout perhaps put two vertical layed optical drives either side and then 3 horizontal drives in the standard horizontal mounts

Are there not already loads of mods called biohazard? Why not come up with something original so at the end of it you can think, god aren't I good. Also some pics with colour would be nice. Sketchup is good for rendering your drawings aswell.
