    Thanks for the feed-back Guys!
As for recessing the Detroit Bros cleaner, that would be EZ to do.. Taken under advisement.. :thumb: I will give it a try that way and see how it looks!
    More ASAP..

    Hey Modsquad.

There are a couple of things which are bothering me with the cleaner part.

-As people pointed out that it protrudes too much to match the rest of the case.
-It'll restrict your view of the vfd.
-You still have to drill holes for the Aquaero control buttons.
-And finally, the part itself doesn't have the unique look like the other biker parts you've used, sure it is made from billet alu and will look good when polished, but still I think it won't be par with the other parts.

Don't take this too seriously, these are just my thoughts about the subject and otherwise everything is looking really good for Black Rain.

    Sincerely

    Darkened

HI Dark, good to hear from you.. BUT- I have to disagree.. I like the "look" of the D-Bros Menace air cleaner. What can I say, I guess it's a love or hate proposition..
    As for:
-Yes, I will attempt to recess the unit. That seems to be "the thing to do"..
-Yes, it will restrict the viewing angle of the VFD. But, without it-- it's just another side-mount display.. Same-deal. Love it or hate it, I all but promise you will not see another one like it!
-I will not need the buttons on the Aquaero VFD. They are all replicated via software. Just some acrylic to change the display to RED..
We seem to agree to disagree on this update. BUT, I hope that will not prevent you from future-posts. I appreciate your feed-back, but at the end of the day only (one) person needs to think this machine is "kickass", and that would be me..

    Well, my two cents:

of course the final decision is for Modsquad to take. It's your mod, you'll have to decide whether or not to like it :D

What is good about the forums is to get people's opinions. When they all say that the part needs to be recessed, well consider that a sign :hip: ...and you did just that, so all is good.
Not everyone seems to like its look, well I see what you're planning with it and I do like it...

Indeed, I also use an Aquaero in my main case and I never use the buttons, since working with the Aquasuite software is just so much faster and handier...

(by the way, no offence meant to nobody in this post)

The first side panel you done with the windows took me some time to like, then i saw the red lights and it was awesome!

Then this panel, and at the moment its a 'maramite' you either love it or hate. At the moment i am going to wait to see how it turns out before i decide wether i like it!

    Hey MS

I was a bit tired this morning, so the message I sent seemed a bit harsh and rough around the edges as I now look at it again. I by no means tried to "step on your toes" on this one, just wanted to point out some of my own musings on the subject :hehe:

By saying that the air cleaner wouldn't be on par with the other parts, I meant that the clutch plate and the other parts that you have used here have a lot of distinctive details when the air cleaner is much more plain by design. I not saying that it's a bad thing, but somehow I feel that it's going to look out of place (on the other hand less can be more and already having the Indian Larry engraved piece on that side might be enough.

For the buttons, I didn't know about the "software" buttons, so that won't be a problem then.

Recessing the unit, definitely if you find a way to do it nicely :thumb:

And finally by saying that it'll probably restrict your view I meant that isn't the air cleaners "fins" so close to one another that you won't be able to see the whole display? Have you thought about cutting off the two middle "fins" and that way making room for the vfd. I think that'd look really cool.

But again, don't take my messages too seriously, this is your mod, all the way :thumb:

That air cleaner thingie is really cool! Putting that display behind it is... genius! Keep on going like this. Besides the fact that your mods are wel detailed and look very clean, some of your ideas are more then just cool :) . I like it.

Mmmm, probably I'm the only one that follow this mod from the beginning that don't say a word about the recessed VFD...
The air cleaner is an other kickass biker part, and if you follow the "recessed" way I suppose that the look will be more attractive...
The limited view of the display can be an issue, but following your thread theached me that your solutions can be really strange but effective.
I suppose that the issue of don't reach the buttons don't be a trouble for you (and you told the same thing) .
At the end of the story, you are the only judge , I know, but of you want my little opinion, go on , hide the display and show me more pics :-]

Sorry for my slow response, real-world stuff (real world job).
Jokos is 100% correct, feedback on a forum like this is great. By that I am talking about both the positive and negitive. Positive feedback helps to motivate the builder to "press forward".. Constructive negitive feedback helps the builder to see options to improve the design. There is an old saying : "sometimes you can't see the forest because of the trees".. That (IMHO) applies to the builder. Your thinking about lots of different things building a machine, but a big part is planning ahead. So, sometimes your thinking about whats next as opposed to what you have just done.. With that said..
I still am sold on the the Detroit Bros air cleaner, I believe it to be of equal quality with the other "biker" parts I am using in the machine. From a design stand point it works because of it's circular-shape.
BUT---- It does looks MUCH BETTER recessed (sorry no pictures at this point in time). So, thanks for your help one and all.. :thumb:
You have helped to make this a better machine and that is what these PL's are all about!

Yay for improving things with a community. This project is turning out excellently MS. I especially like the other side panel with the excellent integration of biker parts and the old case side. Keep it up.

agree, this is a "Crazy-Project".. More often than-not.. Updates have been once a week from 9/14/06 to the present..
That is the best I can do Ck.. I have not seen ANY PL's on this site updating more frequently than that.. This is my LAST PL, and I promise I am moving as fast as I can. I can't wait to FIN this thing.. That is a (natural) fact..

I am thinking about just project-logging the (remaining) case mods and not the FIN/working computer. That would shorten this PL by (innumerable) months. I want (need) closure, so I would do no-less..
YES.. That is what we will-do.. I need a few more updates and then I will vanish from the project-logs.. (I promise).. :thumb:

    i totally disagree!

Waiting for your update is like waiting for the next issue of your favorite magazine. It makes the whole project so much more interesting as you never miss anything.

And usually most ideas are great ways to solve so problems in these cases. You find out about little things you may completly miss.

Modsquad is basically telling a story od how this case is 'growing'.

So shut up MOFO and sit back and wait!

At least were not get a rushed crap project made of Mecano toy contrustion sets, by a little 14 year old with a dremel and not alot of sense!

Thats the first time iv had a go at some of the really poor attempts on this forum but i had to make a point that this project is worth waiting for!

    Yeah! What HE said!

Besides, I kinda think from all the other Computerking posts, that this was really meant as a compliment saying they were just very interested.

There are some people posting almost everyday, and that's great in it's way. But the ones that only have a post a month are great in their way. Or ones like mine where there is a flurry and then nothing for a while. Everyone works differently.

You just go at you own pace and don't worry about the whiners.

I hope you will post your next log in here, too.

    Poll:

Here's the deal guys. I have just set-up a (14) day poll for the project. I am heading out of the States on a two-week vacation. My vacation and the poll will end at the same time..
I promise I will comply with the results.

Being my favorite project ever, I would hope to see the mod, in it's true form, to the FIN stage.

Why would you stop finishing this mod? The case is great, watercooling setup is great, biker parts look great, it all matches. You're probably the only guy that has 4 acryl aquatubes in his pc :D .

    Anyway, keep on modding :thumb:
