That was an entirely different situation. Paris Hilton was arrested for drunk driving, then was arrested for violating her parole. She was sentenced accordingly. Dick Cheney accidentally shot his friend during a hunting trip; while unfortunate, it's hardly a crime. Cheney's friend understood that it was an accident, and did not press charges. Two very different scenarios. -monkey
UPDATE: I just saw on BBC that Paris is being released from jail after only 3 days. She'll be under house arrest and have to wear electronic monitoring for 40 days, but otherwise she's scott free. Wonderful justice system isn't it.
It was apparently because of a medical problem. In any case: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/6732915.stm
The Cheney incident was a hunting accident, believe it or no when you have a group of people with shotguns out in a field the situation can be a little dangerous. You disgust me for trying to make a joke of what happened. To my understanding, the sentence an average person would receive would be up to 90 days. There is no way a normal person would have there sentence cut in half, especially not after previous DUIs and being on probation. Releasing Paris after 3 days is a mockery of the justice system. L J
True, but Dick Cheney is a complete fool and a disgusting example of a human being. And how the hell do you mistake a bird with someone's face?
Lets see what boredom Paris will face being under house arrest: Sauna Swimming pool Jacuzi Home Cinema High speed Internet - Home shopping galore (or will that be cut?) Pets Celebrity family and friends Huge garden to roam What a punishment, I bet that was the plan all along...
Regardless of your personal feelings toward Cheney, I think your comment is completely inane. Hunting accidents happen. It's a fact of life. Guns are mechanical devices, and can fail at any time. Someone might be standing in the wrong place. Perhaps they became so comfortable in their surroundings that they weren't as focused on safety as they should have been. In Cheney's case, he just happens to be a high-profile individual. If he were John Q. Public you wouldn't care the least bit. This is a thread about Paris Hilton and her legal escapades. This is not a thread to start bashing the US administration. -monkey
That's why you don't point them at someone unless you're trying to shoot them. With firearms, there are no accidents, only negligence.
I don't see how my comment was funny. correct me if I'm mistaken but wasn't Chaney a little drunk too, I know he waited till his buzz wore off to call in his "accedent" hahah I'm so glad that she has to go back for the full sentence, atanum141 love your avatar
