Hello again. Welcome to my humble project, " Ultra XS " TEC cooling mATX case this is gonna be short and to the point worklog. You won't see a lot of fabrication steps just results, I believe you all had seen enough cutting and grinding pictures in other logs. I will use I Tribe cooling unit, as the case for this build. The challenge is to stick a mATX board in a 13"x 9"x 6" approximate Tribe case, while obtaining water cooling temps without using a water cooling system. For this I'm using a ULTRA TEC HS unit and a open mesh case. Enough babbling see it for your selfs. First this is the TRIBE unit after taking the handles Taking the top cover to exposed the insides out with the WC system and we got a mesh case This is the TEC unit and the control unit this unit was too long and I shortened by about 2" After relocating the rubber feet to the side the case stands up I mod one of the brackets to set the switches and led indicators plus a fan controller , added some black sleeving to them they are going on top of the case Made a MOBO tray out of plexi and added some ventilation holes to it a rear picture of the back of the case Next I will add the PSU, see yah
Welcome back, today is the PSU installation, after a while I decide not to put the PSU inside the case, didn't feel like modding the PSu to make it fit, so went to the top. I did added some handles and decorative plates to it. The PSU is screw upside down to the top of the case after some black sleeving add the control panel and a mesh cut out and the top is done The MOBO with the TEC unit has been installed it does stick like 1/2" out of the case it was plan that way, is gonna be a focal point. a right side picture, all wires showing a left side picture, TEC control unit hanging on the front frontal shot with the TEC control unit in place side shots, I wanted the TEC control unit to stick out too No the HD goes at the bottom of the case To be continue.....
nice idea to stuff this huge ooling unit in a small case like yours i liked your previous mod very much so i'll be watching this one . soo no very small instead of very big (in your last mod)
Back for more, good Added a fan to the left side and a temporary blue IDE cable, the black 10" long IDE cable hasn't arrived yet. I had cut the side mesh panel to match the I/O connectors, both fans are waiting for some SS blade grills. Installed the right mesh panel, nothing has been done to it Almost done, just need to cut out the front mesh panel After cutting the mesh around the TEC unit, the case is done Some final shots after adding the grills I'm had not been able to take a decent picture, either the chrome parts reflect the flash back or I can't capture the real look of the black mesh. I do love the black/chrome/green look; all the screws, nuts, brackets and grills are stainless steel. I also modded the TEC unit with green LEDs and added a 80 mm fan to the bottom of the HD for cooling. Took me a week to do, easy mod but it looks great, final dimensions of the case are 16.5" H x 9" W x 6.5" D. The PC has a GIGABYTE GA-945GCM-S2 mATX MOBO, Intel Pentium 4 630 [ 3015 MHz] CPU , 2 gigs DDR2 533, Maxtor 6B200R0 [ 200 Gb] HD, 400W PSU, nVIDIA GeForce PCX 5750. Right now is running 27C at idle and 32C at 100% load. The speed of the 80mm fan in the side and the one at bottom of the HD, can be adjusted by the control panel. The noise level is lower than one 120mm fan, running at full blast. The TEC unit is really doing its job, plus the mesh case is keeping everything else cold. Hope you guys like it, thanks for watching! CrazyModder out...... PS: Forgot to mention OC CPU to 3.6 GHz @ 100% load, the temps won't go over 40C, I'm happy with that.
I try to make it, without making a mess of cables. Thanks! Yeah, I wanted the cooling unit to be the focal point. Its a simple mod, but with a lot of cooling power. I could have milk the building process, with lot of steps and pictures; but this time I just wanted to show results. The pictures don't make justice to the case is black and shinny , it really looks good. Thank you guys for all your comments. I had enjoy this build more than anything else , I had done before. So, I want to repeat it; but with a bigger cage
You know, I always heard about noisy HDs, but I only had one with that problem in 15 yrs, maybe because it was seriously fragmented and was mounted sideways. I'm using the same HD now and is silent, go figure. The only noise comes from the TEC fan, it does increase or decrease depending on the load in the CPU.
Back again, got acouple of better pictures to show This pics show half of my desk Some better shots CrazyModder out......
