Hey guys, I'm looking at installing a small matrix orbital in one of the drive bays of my lian li, but honestly.. I have no idea where to start. Can someone point me in the direction of a guide to accomplish this? I've tried searching around for how-to's and I'm just not having any luck. If you could help me out, I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks :)

Can you fit a 4x40 LCD in a drive bay :eeek::D
Matrix Orbital has both parallel and USB character LCD kits, try their website. Alternatively you can score a standard HD44780 character LCD and wire them up to LPT. Check http://lcdsmartie.sourceforge.net/ for exapmle.

Thanks for the links! After looking around some more I'm starting to think that a 4x40 would be a bit big. I have a Lian-li A16B case, so if I were to use a 4x40 I'd have to remove two of the bays and use one of those kits. What I'm thinking now is just using a single 2x40 LCD, and modding one of the bays to fit it. But basically what I'm looking for is this: For someone with limited electronics experience, (through some work on cars, I'm decent with a soldering iron) and zero experience whatsoever with these LCD's, what would be a good place to (inexpensively) start? I'm hoping to have the entire solution done in under $100. Is this possible? How does the wiring work? My motherboard doesn't have a serial or parallel port, will this be a problem? Are there any alternatives to matrix orbital, I've heard tons of great things about them over the years, but I'm just curious.

The MO parts are just over $100 (with shipping etc) but look to be pretty much complete. However, though I've looked at these many times I don't own any so all I can point you at is what I've seen. Others may be able to help you more and I think I've even seen Henry from MO on these forums.
