Hey guys, I'm back with a new project...not for me but for my girlfriend. First and foremost I must say that please don't expect a great masterpiece such as Tribaloverkills "Blackout". Now on to my project. I am building this computer for my girlfriend so that she has a computer to use at my house instead of using mine. She has a thing for stars and the color blue so that is where the name and theme came from. Please feel free to give any advice, comments or suggestions that you want to give. Enough talk...LOL...On to the pictures.

These pictures are of the case before I decided to take it apart.

Ok, now that you saw what the case looked like before I took it apart, now you get to see what it looks like after I took it apart.

There you go guys. I picked this case up from a pawn shop for like 5 bucks, it came with a p3 mobo running 500mhz and a bunch of other things. I haven't looked through my closet yet to see what kind of hardware I am going to put in this computer for her, but she says as long as it runs The Sims 2 then she will be happy. Until next time, thank you for viewing and feel free to comment.

    -::August 12, 2007::-::FIRST UPDATE::-

Well I already have my first update, its not a big one but its a start. I've got a few things planned for this case but it all has to start somewhere. I decided to start with the switch panel that will control the lights and power for the computer.

This is just one of the bay covers that came with the case.

I drilled some holes in the bay cover to add switches and some blue leds that will be wired to the switches.

As I said nothing special but its a start. As I said before feel free to leave a comment or two. Until next time, keep the mods flowing.

Hope you like them.

And another update. LOL. I started working on the front panel today as well and I wanted to post my progress with that part. Here are the pics.

Here is what the front panel looked like when I pulled it from the case.

Here are the ugly holes on the bottom of the front panel.

Here are the button holes near the middle of the panel after I removed the buttons.

I had to glue a piece of plastic behind the holes that were used for the buttons because when I put the bondo on it needs something to sit against so it doesn't just fall out of the hole.

And here are the images of the design that is getting cut out of the front of the case. The red areas will be cut away and I'm thinking about getting some modders mesh and putting it behind the star.

Thats pretty much all I have gotten done today, I'm getting a bit tired and have to work tomorrow so I think I am going to clean up, play some video games and then go to bed. Please feel free to leave a comment or suggestion. Thanks for viewing and until next time, keep modding.

It's actually kind of narrow. I am modding the exact same case. It had a sticker on the back that said 'mini pc'. LOL.

Thank you for all your comments guys. I am actually considering redo'ing the switch panel because I am not completely satisfied with it, I'm probably going to go out and get some sheet aluminum and replace that panel...build a custom one that will take up 2 bays instead of one, and I'm also thinking about using these:

    http://www.frozencpu.com/products/5810/ele-243/Military_Style_Switch_w_Blue_Acrylic_Cover.html?tl=g4

I'm thinking about picking up 3 of those just to keep with the hole blue theme that my girlfriend wants.

I kind of like it with the -red- star. Rush 2112 case!

I'm not sure you would want to do that. You would really need some outstanding dremel skills to make it merge perfectly in the front bezel. Besides that, it would give you a damn hard time to make it color-match the case.

    -::August 14, 2007::-::Update::-

Hey there everyone, Im here with a little update. I spent the past couple of hours planning and drawing what the top panel for this case is going to look like, and to tell you the truth I am quite happy with the way it turned out. My only problem is now trying to figure out my plan of action when it comes to cutting this thing out...LOL...well here are the pictures.

Once again everything that is red is going to get cut out...the big hole in the middle is for a 120mm fan. While drawing this design I found out that I have to find a new way to attach the top panel to the case, here take a look...

These hook type things are underneath the top panel, there are a total of 6 of them on the bottom side of the top panel.

Here is a close up of the hooks.

And now those hooks slide into these holes that are located on the top of the frame for the case.

Now the problem came to be when I realized that this design would totally eliminate these hooks. I am going to have to come up with a totally new way to attach this panel to the top of the case. Oh well, thats a problem for another day. Thank you for viewing and feel free to leave comments or suggestions.

you could use the fan screws to hold it,
    or two sided tape.

The only problem with using double sided tape is that the bottom of the top panel doesnt sit on the top of the case, it is actually elivated a little bit. Actually when I was sleeping last night I came up with an idea, I just have to go out and find the right pieces for it now.

Hey guys...Im back again with another update. Got a little more planning done today. Ill cut to the chase because Im tired and can't really think of what I want to say.

    Side panel before.

    After I sanded it.

When I was finished with the design.

I actually think that the side panel came out really nice, the only thing I am dreading is the cutting. This panel is made of steel and its going to eat up cut-off wheels. Oh well. Its got to be done. Oh yeah, I found the motherboard that is going to go in this case.

Its an Abit KG7, here is the info for the board:

    http://www.uabit.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=32&Itemid=48&page=2&model=28

And aren't I a lucky person, I looked at the processor and I got this one:

    http://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/K7/AMD-Athlon 1000 - A1000AMT3B.html

So it looks like I will be overclocking this system when I am done. And the best part of this whole thing is I only paid $10 for this motherboard. Well Im tired so thank you for taking a look at my project and please feel free to leave a comment or two.
