    Hello,
I've been on google looking for programs that I can use to customise my desktop. So far all that programs that I have found you have to pay for.
I was wondering if anyone knows of any that are free to use?
    Thank you.

Stardock's Theme Manager is free

There are thousands of themes to choose from on various sites - i.e. WinCustomize, Deviant Art, XP Theme, Theme XP etc etc.

For additional 'bits' (clock/calendar, SysInfo tools etc etc)... try Yahoo! Widgets (formerly 'Konfabulator').

Just be aware that any theme mentioning "* This author has generously allowed us to wrap this file to help keep our costs down. Click here for more information." will install adware. "Free" often comes at a price. :nono:

    I use Bootskin but haven't found a bug-free theme I like.

yeah I noticed that some of them come with some kind of "ware" as a tag along. I dont know how many of my friends pc's I have fixed and noticed that they have something like 10 search bars installed.

It does, flawlessly, 32-bit and 64-bit. Not had one single problem with any previous gen hardware either.

That said, you do need some power to...erm...power it.

well i'm sure that I have enough power to run it but I also have more than enough power to run xp. and I already have xp so why pay for something that I dont need.
Anyway, getting off topic. I may just go out and buy a program, or just leave the desktop the way it is. I dont spend that much time using it anyway

try the .msstyle + uxtheme. Avoid themes from themexp, they bundle all the files with spyware. wincustomize seems to be best.

Yup, getting back to the topic, bbq's suggestions are brilliant.

Also, google the flyakyte3 mac osx theme, it is spot on.

Sorry for the late response. Yes, that video is with the WindowBlinds 6 beta on Vista. Most of the features such as the adjustable transparency are available on XP as well. :)

I use Samurize, it takes a bit to create your own but I love it.
