£126 for CPU & mobo or just mobo?
& presumably then you'll be needing DDR2 RAM as well?

E2140/E4400 and uhhh... something for £50-60. Look at a P965 motherboard: Gigabyte DS3, Asus P5B or MSI P965 Neo or Abit IB9? http://shopping.bit-tech.net/UK/search?q=P965

To be honest for the same money you could pick up a 5200+ and something AM2 for a similar price and likely a similar performance. Check this: http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/2007/02/01/intel_core_2_duo_e4300/1

Yep, that's a typo. The E4400 (which I have here) is rated at 2x2.0GHz. It's the E4300 which runs at 2x1.8GHz.

Wot about GFX? You'll need something better than an x800 for bioshock...

I know its too late for you, but for someone else considering something similar, imh(amd-biased!)o, a better grafix card with perhaps an X2 processor would have been better for a game - games tend to be more grafix-limited than cpu (to a degree).

Anyway, just my two-bits worth, not a criticism of what you want to do.

GTS is a faster card and I don't think you'll need more than 256MB of VRAM on a mid-range card. :)
