Thay seem pretty sure it works. And if it does, I wonder what Apple will do. The iPhone can now be used outside the US and with any carrier, apparantly.

Kind of pointless I think. You can still only buy the things with an AT&T contract, so it's just a waste of money to use a new provider.

    eBay says otherwise.

Where there is a demand, there will be a supply, and to hell with the law.

No, you can only legitimately buy them in the US at the moment. There's no requirement to activate it. If you want to activate it legally, yes, you have to do so through AT&T, but in order to buy one, you don't have to make any commitment to them.

I will say, even my mac hating wife agrees they're nifty devices and well worth the $500-$600

Well worth it? No. I'd pay MAYBE $300. To me, it's the PS3 all over again. I'll stick to Samsung

Thank goodness someone sees sense. I really don't get this whole anti-iPhone thing people have got on atm. It's an easy to use device that does plenty and looks nice. What's wrong with that? Alright you can get phones which do more, but they're not as sleek or as easy to use.

Yes but the issue is that the phones that do more cost a helluva lot less.

True, but you always pay for style - no-one questions whether you should buy an iMac or not because it costs a bit more than a PC: if it suits you, you buy it. They'll get cheaper yet anyway, don't forget it's not that long since release, and I'll bet they can't make them fast enough.

Even if they are overpriced, that still doesn't explain the absolutely fanatical hatred of them throughout the internets.

I see no point to any consumer device at this price point where you can't change the battery. Sorry, but with a limited number of recharge cycles, you need to be able to buy a new one. And some of us like having a spare charged battery when we know we are going to be away from a wall socket for a day or two.

Cool or not, it's flawed. I'll stick with my m600 and spare battery.

About time, but didn't apple lock it like that so they could sell if for such a low price, like, they are loosing money on the phone it self, but making it with the deal they have with AT&T. So, if you like your Iphone, you might want to obay Apple

No, and I'm not trying to come across as an 'iPhone-player-hater', I just don't enjoy all the coverage it's received when there are plenty of technically superior products underselling. Still, that's to be expected from the market's typical consumer, and I'm just awaiting the day that Windows Mobile gets a slightly simpler/consumer friendly GUI to give it the attention it deserves. If the iPhone dropped a few bucks, or indeed didn't cost anything on a decent contract, it would seem a more worthwhile investment, but as it is I don't feel any attraction to it other than the nice design and pretty animations.

A88 - you can't forget that products can have all the technical features in the world, and it doesn't mean anything if they're unusable. That's why Apple's gotten the coverage it has with the iPhone - it may have fewer features (although, truth be told, most are there just different; no MMS but you get rich text emails with picture attachments which is both better and free), but they're all very accessible.

You're quite right in saying that if Windows Mobile got a better UI, it would get more attention. That's what we need today - better user interfaces. That's pretty much the only difference between operating systems today, and likewise for most smartphones. I'd rather have a few useful features that I can actually access than some convoluted sack of features that I can never find.

All hardware/software companies need to learn that they try to secure something the faster it will be cracked because more people will want the challenge and fun of hacking it. Not to mention bragging rights. Nothing will ever be 100% secure unless maybe with AI.

At any rate, what if you have Verizon? They don't have SIM cards at all... or am I just retarded?

Got the same phone as well, got tired of the lame battery, so I bought the BL-6C for 20$, it's 1100mAh compared to the BL-5C which is 750mAh, so it's a nice boost :)
You got to mod the battery holder a little bit, but not much, and it's easily do-abe, you just gotta remove the black pad on the removable cover :D
