I've been playing on my GTX for a while. I've had no problems with my main games I like to play like counter-strike source, Garry's Mod, Day of Defeat, Battlefield 2, and a couple of others I like to play. On my older games like Condemned and Far Cry, and sometimes even Half-life 2 which doesn't make much sense, I've noticed small artifacts in the game, and then some crashes where the driver has failed. Is this a driver issue? Because it does say the driver crashes... or is it something else? My temps are normal (60-80 depending) so what's the problem? Thanks!
My ForceWare is 162.18 and my PSU is 750W I'm also running an E6850 and P5K3 motherboard as well as one harddrive and one DVD drive.
Yeah, I'm still getting the random crashes in game. I don't get it on every game, but I've been getting it on Quake Wars and Farcry, any ideas?
Could this crashing be due to something else? Like my onbound SoundMAX audio? Or maybe my LAN driver? I've got a P5K3 Wifi-AP motherboard - gonna try and update my drivers there.
did you try those 163.44 beta drivers? they fixed all the problems I had with my GTX this far... never the less I haven't tried steam games and there has been know issues with those. EDIT: at least on Vista operating system (sudden FPS loss, crashing and stuff)
have you checked the system logs in computer management to see if there is anything of relevance when the crash occurs?
if the new drivers don't work, try installing nTune and see what the temp of the GPU is running at and power consumption, might help but probably not since the newer games work fine....
Now civilization 4 is locking up. At one point, I heard a beep while trying to alt - tab and press several different combinations of keys.
By the way, my computer specs are E6850 Intel 2 Core 3.0Ghz P5K3 Wifi-AP ASUS motherboard 750W Coolermaster Power Pro 2 GB DDR3 Ram PNY 8800GTX factory overclocked And I currently have 4 fans in my chasis, with everything at normal temperatures (I've monitored through the ASUS temperature app) After the game freezes, the mouse is still able to be moved, and then that freezes followed by 2 short beeps.
my suggestion, since it souns like a new pc, narrow down what is crashing by testing the cpu, ram, video card. figure out whats causing the problem and rma it. Especially since it sounds like it is getting worse.
Okay I fixed Civilization 4. I really think it's just the card having compability issues and I have tons of PC games that I zip through. Civilization 4 apparently needed a patch and it stopped crashing (although after 3 hours I did get a crash but the graphics card alerted me that its dll had failed and to restart).
I'm really freaking worried. Almost every game I try does something wrong. THe only games I've had success with are steam games and battlefield 2. And I don't know if those still work anymore.
