Im trying to build a cnc milling machine but cant find a suitable stepper motor controller that works with emc linux and fits my budget. Does anyone know of any simple and cheap Computer stepper motor controllers?
I dont have the knowledge or equipment to be using pics or micro controllers so tha sets me back again.

    Help would be greatly appreciated.

I bought a really easy to use stepper I2C serial motor controller from here www.byvac.com, you can also get serial ones that work from a com port.

Stepper motors can also be directly amd more precisely controlled over the parallel port; All you need is a program that will write the appropriate bits to the data lines in sequence and have them switching transistors to fire the windings in the motor.
