Where can i get those really bright bloo LEDs cheap ? I wanna replace the LEDs in my keyboard, mouse, drives and other stuff. Thanx
well if you lived in north america, you could had asked 1337haxor in the us/cananda: for sale forum... he sells them 0.50$ for blue led 3000 mcd. maybe he can send some over you.
Check out www.maplin.com under optoelectrical or comuter case>mods. Prices are about £1.80 90mcd, or £2.99 2000mcd, if you don't have luck elsewhere. (A normal LED is about 10mcd.) Not cheap but available. (that's the LED's not me!)
for bright and cheap, ask 1337haxor in the us/cananda: for sale forum... can't get any cheaper than that for 3000mcd. I mean, 0.50$ usd, if that's expensive...
Ok, i get the message ... I want really bright and blue for my mouse and other stuff ... and something for my keyboard LEDs (dont want em blinding me) .... Money is not really that much or a problem ... although I'd rather not spend too much
Well I do me best - new supplier is gonna do em me so cheap I can sell em for 50p blues at 300mcd whites at 4500mcd.. Thats to Bit tech peoples of course..
What about putting a blue rubber boot onto a bright white LED? It might lose some brightness but you could then afford to mod everything to bloo because white LEDs are a lot cheaper. Or pick up some red LEDs and put a bloo boot on them and then you could have purple/violet which would look even better because you don't see that colour very often. Now I just have to find a way to make some cheap bloo rubber booties for my LEDs... Ideas anyone?
I think we've talked about taillight repair tape before. That's be an easy red fix. Ironically, white LEDs are blue LEDs, but they add a phosphor that emits a white light when it's excited by the blue light. So a Blue LED would cost less that that for sure.
Neat! One thing to consider also is that the cost of a product does not necessarily correlate with the manufacturing cost of a single unit. I suspect that white LEDs are produced in far greater quantity than blue and so that may explain why my local electronics store sells white LEDs cheaper than the blue ones. It seems that pricing also varies based on what people are willing to pay, rather than a constant mark-up policy. Oooh all those supply/demand curves we learned about in economics finally came in useful.
Bloo LEDs Personally I find that for keyboard and power light replacements Farnell do some here for 38p that may be only 100 mcd but work well and are clearly visible when in a 3 x 100W bulb lit room with sunlight from the large window. Basically (I'm not that into the electronics so to me 100mcd doesn't mean that much) this means end on from 1.5m away they look as bright as a 60W from 2m and you definitely won't be wondering if it's on unless you are actually blind. Considering the price and farnell's free next day delivery I think this is quite a bargain. You may not be able to light an entire case with just one but for a fiver you can buy 25 of them and light it that way.
