I think their activity dropped after they lost their modder Rikk to VH. Hosting the site to save the articles is a good idea. I have learned stuff from them and they have had great modding projects, and their site really looks great.
I mailed him myself, when the announcement was made, saying how sad all our staff were to see the site go, but we understood completely that he had other things in his life that had to come first. In that mail, I offered to do anything we could to keep their content online. So what I do know is this. He has at least a few offers on the table. Therefore I would respectfully suggest that no one else contact him about it. I would imagine the guy has a hell of a lot on his plate right now, and the last thing he wants to worry about is fielding all sorts of requests/questions. He now knows we're here, if he wants to take someone up on their offer, he will. Until then, I'm sure he'd, however appreciate any words of support.
WOW I would gladly pay hosting to help out with the site, and keep it up. Ive been planning on starting up my own tech site for a while now. If the option ever came my way I'd pay the bills to keep the place going. The website is a work of art. I love it. Just dont wanna see it go
Yep, just checked out the front page again and he's looking into this. Maybe the best thing now is to just let him get on with that.
ack i never really visited them because of their site design... i want the pictures to take the while to load (if anything) not the layout! although it is very nice it never seemed worth my while to site there waiting. i wish Robbie the best of luck with everything. Alaric.
I can host the site just like I host Bit if need be. I'd suggest merging the content instead of having two seperate sites along the same lines though. Cheers, David
I just wanted to drop in and say a big thank you to everyone who has contacted me about the closure. The level of support the site has received has genuinely taken me by surprise - I am touched by it. I am discussing porting over the best content from PowerZone onto Bit-Tech at the moment, if it works out then here will be the home for all the good bits of my site! The decision had absolutely nothing to do with Rikk leaving, he was a ****** anyway, it has been on the cards for a long time and I tried to keep it going for as long as possible, but my family commitments and personal circumstances are such that I am unable to continue with the site (not like I was making much money from it anyway!). Thank you to Bit-Tech for offering to host the content
Most welcome Rob. Best content? That makes it sound like there was some content not up to scratch, when I found everything to be well written and informative - bit like BiT here </suckup mode> Good luck with the rest of your life dude, take great care of your family... and enjoy everything you find yourself doing. The community will miss you, but you won't be forgotten.
dude you are the king for keeping it on for so long this ones for you /me opens another bud & clinks is agiant my monitor
PC PowerZone will officially close its doors on Friday - the 13th ironically enough. I've posted a message on the front page, please read it if you feel you want to. Goodbye folks - it's been real.
PC PowerZone is now officially closed - site is gone On the upside, all my work will be appearing on Bit-Tech in the near future, so it hasn't all vanished! I may do a very small amount of freelance work for select sites in the future - but only when it suits me Big thanks to everyone who supported the site over the last few years.
yup, good luck to you from all of us here Cammy : fear not, all your favourite PCPZ content will be winging its way over to our site in the near future
