Scratch Build – In Progress Ferrari Enzo tribute - 20/12/2007 - *ON HOLD*

mhh to get a consistent layer of paint on a there wont be easy. if you cant get tinted plexi why not use a thin foil.
you should get some ( maybe even for free) on a local glasser.

 

SSR: i'm talking about the MUSKETEER device..







all you need is switch the LED's to Red one's..

 

mvagusta: If i don't find any tinted plexi i can always make some by using tint film used in car windows. But then again i'm not totally sure i want to go with the tinted look

derbaum: The paint job will be a little tricky indeed but nothing impossible . In the past i got to paint even more complex parts, so i think i can handle this one

arkadur: An interesting idea, and i would definitely look into it if i was at an earlier stage of the build, but this time it's just too late and the control panel area is just too small to fit the musketeer gauges. Still i can promise you it will look pretty good even without those

This is my last update prior to the upcoming modding championship that will be held next week. In the upcoming days i will spend as much time as possible preparing both this mod and my previous one (AquaLight) for the competition.

This week i managed very little progress but still...

First the mounting brackets for the electronics cage were made



I used a fiberglass angle i made earlier

Glued it to the bottom of the cage and drilled some mounting holes



Then i used the mounting holes as a template to drill some holes in the case bottom



Then attached some nuts and applied some resin around them to hold them in place





Next were the PSU covers. Same method was used. I cut some small pieces of the fiberglass angle



Then the mounting holes were drilled in the covers





Next i attached the fiberglass angles to the covers uding double sided tape and drilled them as well





Finally some nuts were placed and glued down with epoxy







Finally i cut some holes for the PSU power cables in the rear of the case

A simple cutting template was drawn by hand



Glued on the rear of the case



And the finished cut (i used dremel's diamond cutting wheel)

Hey guys. Many things happened during the past week, one of them being me winning the Israeli Modding Championship with my previous project "AquaLight"

I had very little time this week to work on this case as most of the time untill the tuesday (the day of the competition) was spent preparing the AquaLight for the competition.

So first thing first. Lets begin with the very little progress i managed on the Enzo prior to the competition.

Lets begin with the motherboard tray. I decided to mod the I/O panel a little bit as the stock look was pretty ugly

I began by closing the unnecessary area with a piece of MDF.









Then i made a template and cut a piece of carbon to cover the I/O panel





And the finished look



More progress was done today. I finally received my order from Performance-PC's

After examinating the package i immediately moved to fitting some of the stuff i got inside on the mod.
I began with the control panel. First i made a new carbon plate to cover the panel. Following the suggestions from you guys i made a thin slot for the DVD drive alone





Then i began progressing on the panel layout. All these are going to be mounted on the control panel

After drilling all the holes and mounting all the switches

man you have done some very awsome work building this case. the carbon fiber has to be one of my favorite parts of the case. i just wish that i had the resources or materials to build my own case, once i get a job hopefully ill have my own work log on here. keep up the good work

Ok... another weekend update

I continue working on the WC setup. This time it was positioning the top radiator.

First i made a quick template in SolidWorks





Placed it on the internal side of the case to allow better positioning



First i drilled some pilot holes



After making sure they were in place, i enlarged the holes to accept M4 screws



Then it was time to make the cutout. I had no big holesaw nearby, neither did i have a jigsaw so i used a small holesaw to make a pilot hole





Then it was time to sand the cutout to the shape from the inside. I used pneumatic die grinder.
Safety first right? Riiiight...

After a while...



And positioning the radiator with the fans in place. Those screws are temporary, i will replace them with some cleaner looking ones later on





Then it was time to find a place for the fillport. At first i thought to just make a small hole near the radiator, then i decided to hide it inside the case making the exteriors a little bit cleaner

I fabricated a small mounting bracket from an aluminum angle
Drilled a 26mm hole in the angle



Then i cut the desired piece and rounded the edges



And mounted in the case



And this is how it's going to work



I also got my ATAPI to SATA adapter for the DVD and mounted it as well. The wires will be rerouted later on, this is just for now

I also love the shape of the cutout for the radiator. Very nice and different too.
