Hi everyone, first post I can get a BFG version of the card for £200 including VAT on scan.co.uk. Shall I go for it? Is BFG a good make - would you recommend? What's the warranty over here in the UK? Thanks.

The 8800GTS_512MB is one of the best cards out there but given that 8800GT are VERY close in perf and cost around £140 is it really worth the extra 43% cost? Is there anything else that cash could go on? As mentioned knowing more about your setup will help us give specific advice for you.
As far as I know the GeForce 9 series should be launching this year, so depending on your system and monitor it may be best to go for the 8800GT. Then again if you go for an 8800GT from EVGA you could test the 8800GT on your current setup and if you find its not fast enough upgrade to the GTS at the difference in cost.
9 seriers for Feb official 2 cards are 9600GT and 9800GX2 for Feb if you can hang on...see what the 9600GT would be like for the money and the 8900GX2 looks to be a bit overkill (well not for Crysis lol) But the 8800GTS 512 is a very good card if you wont a new card NOW
as people said, depends on your system. a slow Athlonx2 (eg 3800) might not be worth it. but, even im tempted to swap my superb 8800GTX with the 8800GTS 512MB because after overclocking it (it clocks better than GTX) i will get more performance in Crysis.
There's a LOT of firm info on the 9600GT due to launch mid to late Feb. These all suggest it will offer perf around 75-80% of the 8800GT so effectively equal (near enough) with the 8800GS which IMHO was a short-term answer to the 3850/3870 and will be replaced by this 9600GT. I guess whether this constitutes a great mid-range part (like 6600GT & 7600GT) depends upon the price point it hits. Since the 9800GX2 seems to be a dual 8800GT part (much like the Radeon 3870-X2) I doubt this will seem worth it to potential 8800GT/GTS purchasers. If those come out in Feb as expected I'd anticipate the rest of the new cards to be out June, but that's quite a while to wait.
My PC: AMD X2 4600 @ 2.8Ghz Gigabyte GA-M57-SLI Corsair 2GB 800mhz @ 4.4.4.12 WD 250GB 7200RPM 16MB With my system it should be good to get the GTS 512, right? I would get the 8800GT but I've got a little more spare money to spend, so I might aswell fork out the extra cash for the GTS I reckon + it's cooler, more stable and can be OCed more @ stock cooling compared to the GT. What do you think?
get the 8800GT and then get the 9 series as well. or upgrade your CPU later. spend more money... more consistently and help the economy. Yay
