    Hi Im new here. Hello to everybody! :rock:

    i have dismantled a lcd from a Compaq Armada E500 laptop. thinking of mounting it by the side of my casing.. but im very foreign to the electronic parts of the lcd.. would appreciate if you could help me identify and point out wat parts im missing, in order for me to make it usable and to be able to display stuff.

    heres a very poor picture of it... cameras are expensive and i cant afford one yet...

    picture of lcd and some unknown part (look like some kind of invertor pcb board)

    Sorry. It can't be done. You need a controller that basically will cost you more than buying a new LCD.

    It's the connectors used on newer HP laptops for the displays. Don't know the exact name for it, though. I have never seen it used elsewhere.

    I'v done this before and it will only cost you $35.00 + shipping ---->http://cgi.ebay.com/VGA-TFT-LCD-Pan...hZ008QQcategoryZ61398QQtcZphotoQQcmdZViewItem

    one better for $150.00 ---> http://store.earthlcd.com/CNT-EV-gm2221-LCD-Controller

    I used the first controller to run a old screen from a HP ZE4300 you will need to remove the old harness from the back of your LCD it should be a 20 pin flat connector but may be 30 if they don't list your screen part # (they didn't list mine ) then e-mail them to see if they have a cable.

    mine had 20 pins at the lcd and 30 at the connector you pictured. but that controller will work for the 20 or 30 you just need to look on the back of you lcd to see the type..

    wow, have they come down in price a lot or something or is this a new product breakthrough.... US $35 really isnt a lot of money...

    does the panel HAVE to be that new LVDS to use that controller or can it be anything?

    Nice, someone whos bought one! I suppose I have some questions for you since I've been on the fence about getting one of those controllers. I suppose my first question is what panel (part number) did you use with it? Also, what color depth are you able to use? Pics?

    With the number of questions that come up regarding this, I would have thought that this controller would have popped up sooner and there might be a thread dedicated to it...

    Every couple of weeks there is a new thread about using an old laptop monitor. I think the search button needs to be VERY LARGE. Sadly, people like polished skull will not search OR read the thread he is in and ask the same question again.

    Please, please, please etc etc etc USE THE SEARCH. At a minimum read the thread your posting in!

    It didn't come with a spec. sheet. so I don't know what it is capable of. but when I hooked it to my hitachi TX36D72VCAA and my B140EW01 it was plug and play it took 4 seconds to auto adjust for the wide screen. they also make one with rgb or pal input with a tv tuner and remote for $59. I'll upload pics when I figure out how
