I didn't even know S3 was still around  Good for them. I had friends that used to swear by their older stuff :)

They are still around, alot of people just don't seem to notice them lol... A relic of the 80's-90's that refuses to die.

But they are good reliable cards, that is true. In their prime in the early 90's they held nearly 60% of the computer graphics market.

Why does it seem like you work for them and you're advertising their product?

    If I'm wrong I apologise...

As for the card, never heard of it probably first made before I was born :p

I get that alot but im not and I don't only trying to encourage healthy competition.

And I don't even know if S3 cards have ever been distributed outside of English speaking areas. I know they are distributed in U.S. Canada and UK. I think powercolor published a version of the S27 in Japan but I don't know the specifics.

They're total garbage and will not even come close to competing with nvidia or ATi. The top card only has 64-bit memory interface. More than likely, this card will probably perform just under the 8400GS.

Should this be here in gaming ???

But on subject, is this S3 as in the same company that made my 2mb graphics card about 10 years ago???

S3 was never really in the gaming scene, the S27 was actually a decent mid-range card for its time, it cost about the same as a 6600GT and performed a bit better. This looks to be more like a media center card, and looking at the list of video decoding formats, if it is aggressively priced and can run cool with a passive cooling arrangement, it might be a winner in that field.

This is the same S3 that made the 2MB card you have most likely(S3 Virge sounds about that old).

Thing is, if the price is right then that will be just the ticket for a second/HDTV box. One you'll watch HD movies on, but not game on too hard.

Apparently they have confidence in its gaming capabilities because its being unvieled at the game developers conference.

And their last gen card could outperform an 8400GS easily

Yes it could, but it was crippled by bad driver support. If they support this, it could be a good niche market item.
